start/stop buttons interchangeable?

I have a 2011 X3 35i without the auto start/stop. If I put in a start/stop button that does have auto start/stop on it, will there be any issues? I imagine the auto start/stop will not work, maybe with coding. I want to replace mine as it is all scratched by the previous owner and found a used one with auto start/stop in good condition for a good price.

The button alone should be available. I know lots of replacement buttons are available for the F25 for cheap. It can be popped out pretty easily too apparently.

Well, the surrounding ring is scratched up too. The 2011 button version without auto start/stop has to disassembled to replace just the button part unlike the other models.

ah gotcha. That makes sense. I'm guessing the button should work unless the connectors are very different. Like you mentioned, auto start stop won't but it should still plug in.

Try ebay and see if you can find pictures of both styles and compare.

The number of pins are slightly different, but everything else for the plug and overall shape is the same...just dont know if it will work properly in my X3 without auto start/stop
