Order placed, now the wait begins...UPDATE: It's here!
Finally placed the order today, this forum has been a tremendous resource for info on the X3, so thanks everyone! I ordered the following:
X3 35i Deep Sea Blue Oyster leather/Fineline wave wood trim 19" 309 wheels with all-season tires (I'm hoping the all-seasons will be a little more comfortable than the performance tire option as my wife has a bad back) Premium Package Technology Package Sport Activity Package Satellite Radio Comfort Access Power tailgate Smartphone integration I skipped the convenience package because I have a 3-year old who'd probably break the window shades the day after we get the car. No one mentioned a delay for the power tailgate...shooting for a 2nd week of April build date. Last edited by sand99; 06-14-2011 at 08:58 PM.. |

Well, the X3 is finally here! I'm pretty positive I've had one of the longest waits of anyone in the US on this forum. Timeline:
4-2-11: Order placed 4-28-11: CWP added to order 5-18-11: X3 enters production with estimated finish date of 5/20 5-20-11: X3 completion date changed to 5/26 5-24-11: X3 enters the paint shop 5-26-11: X3 completed 5-27-11: I receive my production video 6-9-11: X3 arrives at dealership 6-11-11: X3 delivered First impressions are all positive so far. The X3 did hang once at the dealership when downloading my wife's phone contacts over bluetooth, and the CD player took forever to recognize discs, but otherwise no issues. We're coming from a G35, and I must say down low the N55 engine definitely pulls harder. More torque and power at low revs. The transmission is tremendously better as well with faster shifts. We had the dealership's 328i loaner the last 3 weeks and I was really beginning to worry that we'd made the wrong decision but all that's gone now. Our loaner was stripped so it didn't have the creature comforts of our X3 like the sport seats/steering wheel, updated instrumentation, etc. I still wish deep sea blue was a shade darker (monaco blue would've been perfect), but the X3 still looks great. The oyster interior is simply stunning. The X3's weakest link is the satellite radio. It loses reception in areas our G35 didn't. Most notably, inside the garage. This is important, as it's 100 degrees outside right now and it would be nice if I could sit in the garage and get everything set to my liking in iDrive while the satellite radio is running. Instead I have to pull out the iPod or listen to terrestial radio, which I just don't care for. The X3 is without question the best combination of size, performance, and technology in its class...The day after picking up our X3 we were carrying a NASCAR twin size car bed for my 3-year-old son in the back! Here are some quick pics I just took in the garage: [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

Looks very nice.
By taking it in the garage you've made it darker in these pics as you wished it was Agree it would be better in a darker shade but DSB + Oyster goes really well. Congratulations

Nice! The Sea Blue looks really good but I wish it was just a bit darker, too. I'm planning to go with Carbon Black when I order but I wish that was just a little bit more blue.

BXM3W: I'm in the same boat as you. IMO, carbon black is too black, and deep sea blue is just a little too light. I've seen monaco blue on an X6 at the dealership and it looked perfect. Not a biggie as I'm happy with the color anyway, I just wish it was a little more bold. |
