Run Flat Tire Repair

I have a nail in one of mine, the idrive displayed a warning but the tire appears to be fine with no visible loss off pressure. Can the nail be pull and the tire repaired? It would suck to have to replace a tire with only 1000km on it.

Thanks

As long as it's in the tread and not the sidewall it can be plugged and will last the life of the tread. Even though my E83 has a spare, I carry a compressor and a plug kit. I will only mount the spare if I can't plug it.

If you decide to buy a kit and plug it yourself I suggest using cement on the plug even though they say it's not required. I've plugged more tires this way than I can count and I've never had a problem.

IMPORTANT!!! Please do not go by how the tire "looks". The stiff sidewalls of the RFTs will keep the tire up and is no a good indication of pressure. Put a gauge on it right away before driving. If you have lost all pressure, then you have likely damaged the integrity of the sidewall and a plug repair is questionable. If you still have decent pressure, then get thee to a pump and fill it - then directly to the tire shop.

FWIW, I have two BMW's with RFTs and I keep a tire repair kit in each vehicle. 12v compressor and plug kit. Lesson learned from having a flat in the middle of nowhere....

Tire and wheel insurance handy in this situation. Don't have to assess, just get a new tire at no additional cost.

"No additional cost" except the high price paid for the insurance. You'd have to replace at least two to reap much benefit.

I won't try to start an argument over wheel/tire insurance, but like any insurance it is a cost/benifit analysis that we each have to make for ourselves.

Of course, when we need a tire or wheel, we ALL wish we had it.

Brother, I said "no additional cost" vice "free" for that very reason. For me, I lost big in the past for not having it.
