Nop, there is no tire pressure monitoring system on the Canadian cars. Our cars use the rotational speed on each tire to detect pressure loss.

...twist harder.

I know there was a couple defects in steel caps that would eventually weld to the stems, you'll need to replace them.

Parts (valve stem and cap) shouldn't be expensive. http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...57&hg=36&fg=15

There will be some labor involved, but not a lot.

Hopefully it is all covered by warranty.

I too bought some valve caps on eBay. I have my summer and winter wheels swapped by an excellent independant BMW mechanic near my office. He took one look at the eBay valve caps and told me that they would be trouble sooner or later, and to put the stock ones back on. I did.

A bit of antiseeze compound on the valve stem treads might prevent the issue in the future.

I too made the mistake in the past of buying metal caps on ebay. They stuck to the valve. I needed a new valve.................
