Get them. They fit like a comfy glove and keep you planted. Adjustable with the thigh support, lumbar, and the side bolsters. Unless you're on the bigger side and prone to feeling squeezed, I expect you'll either love them or not care. Can't imagine something to strongly dislike about them.

I would certainly get them, it would be a total shame not too. The other seats look cheap and feel cheap compared to the sports seats. They make such a difference in any BMW.

I can see if you are a large person the sport seats might feel constricting on your sides, even with the bolsters set at their widest. They seem to be designed on the small side and if you are larger, definitely try them before ordering. That would be the only mark against the sport seats IMO. I am not a large person (5'7" 152 lb) and for me, the seats are supportive, adjustable, and comfortable.

Definitely try them out first if you're fat...I mean full figured.
I've had people in my sport seat equipped BMW who commented they couldn't believe how uncomfortable my seats were because they were leaning against the bolsters, not the seat back!

My back is wide (working out)) ). I have sports seats now on my 3 series and I do not like it that much. Too tight... Ordered regular seats for my new X3...

I have sports seats and and I find them comfortable but compact and they may be uncomfortable for larger people. They look great especially in black with white stitching.

Fairly good, though, if you weigh 128lbs...

I'm not saying the Sport seats were uncomfortable, but they just didn't seem as comfortable to me as the regular ones and it made me wonder what the sport seats would be like on a very hot day especially with black leather.

I was all for getting the sport seats, but now I'm not sure. Maybe I just didn't have the seat adjusted to it's best position on the sport seat. Unfortunately, they were completely swamped, end of year sales I guess, so I didn't get to ask anyone about it before I had to leave.

Anyway, it's definately something I'm gonna consider looking into further now. Also I finally saw a 28i in black, looked very nice indeed. Took a few shots and can post them up later, but maybe we got enough black shots up already....
I didn't get the sports seats and regret it. While the standard seats and comfortable they aren't supportive once you start taking corners at a decent speed. I'm about 200lbs and 5'10.

The sports seats do look nice with the piping and i initially loved the fact that my car had them. I am a pretty big guy and in hindsight would opt for the regular seats next time.

Bigmanny35,

I'm also a big guy and have to decide if I should go with sport seats. I want M Sport package, but unfortunately can't order it without sport seats.
I did two test drives with sport seats. The first drive was very uncomfortable. The second test drive, I’ve spent 10 min adjusting the seat. It was better, but after the drive I still felt some discomfort in my lower sides.
Are they really that bad and I would never be able to adjust to them?

I am 191cm and 120kg and I test drove two cars with sports seats. Both were excellent for fast driving. But after 200km journey I felt seats squeezing me, especially my thighs.

I had adjustments at their widest possible set.

After those test drives I decided to order regular seats and I think they are best compromise for me. After all, 99% of my driving is "normal" and 1% or less is sporty fast cornering.

Definitly get the sports seats!

From my exprience, it really does help in the driving experience. I have motion sickness and experienced it alot on my previous 2003 x5, when doing a sharp turns and emergency avoidance.
Now in my 35i, much more powerful than my previous x5, with the sport seat, it definitly cured my motion sickness, made my cornerring precise and more confident to do it. When doing emergency avoidance, it just makes it easiler

So yea, in short, the sports seat are he
Pful both medically and driving experience. Thats why BMW has a scientist and doctor developing the seats alone

When we sat in them during our testing stage we found the standard seats were just that more softer to sit in and would be more suitable for the long trips we do. Having now done several long distance trips (11-12 hr drives), I'm glad we didn't opt for the sports seats. By the end of theses drives the bum is starting to get a little sore even with our standard seats. I can only imagine it would have been that much worse with the noticeably harder sports seats. This is our first BMW having come from Volvos and while of course there is no comparison when it comes to performance and handling, the one thing the Volvo leaves BMW for dead is in comfortable seats for long distance driving. The seats in the Volvo are arguably the one thing I miss.

I am not sure if I am comparing apples to apples:

I had 128i with sports package (seats), but manual adj. I sold the car because I could not get comfortable with them. I am middle aged, 5.10, 188.

They were absolutely great when you are really hammering it around a curve, and just a blast to be in. Held you in great. But on regular hwy driving, I could not find a good position. I don't know if it was because they were manual, because it was a 1 series sports car so they were low, or what. The seat angle was never correct for me on the bottom or top, my knee was always hitting the steering column. I also found the seats too narrow at the top.

When I looked at my x3 35i, the car on the lot that had everything I wanted did not have sports seats. I like my seats alot, they are very comfortable. I will agree with others that if you take a turn at good speed, you will not be held in like with the sport seats. I did sit in a x3 w sports seats, didn't drive a car with them so I can't say if they were like the sport seats in the 1 series.

I should also mention that both my 20+ yr old sons had no problems with the seats in my 1 series, and continually offered to take the car off my hands if i really felt that uncomfortable in it;-)

I actually thought the sport seats at first were giving me a lower back ache after an extended test drive. But i idn't like the side support of the regular seats. I had an FX35 before and thought the seats were really comfortable on short and especially long drives. I orderd the sport package and now after only driving for about 1000 miles so far I really like the seats. I'm 5'8" and 170 and I've got the side bolsters really hugging me in. That feature is just like my 1983 Toyota Supra which I thought was really cool. I'm going to see how they do on a long drive soon but I'm pretty confident they are going to be fine. there are alot of adjustments and that thigh support extender is great. One thing though....every once in a while i feel like I bottom out in the rear of the horizontal section of the seat. Maybe it's because I have a little extra padding there

I got an MSport 30d with sports seats and lumbar control, and I have to say that the seating is great. Coming from my Passat R36 which had brilliant sports seats, these are a little less sports a little more luxury, but are a great compromise. And very finely adjustable. After 3 days I am still fine-tuning position, support etc, but it feels like they are going to be a very comfortable long-term fit. Seating was one of the reasons I went X3 over Evoque, as I just could not get comfortable in the RR's sports seats.

Love the sport seats. Keeps you planted in the vehicle. Would not be the same without them.

I'm a big guy (tall and wide) and have had a 330d, 335d (all with sports seats) and just ordered the X3 35d again with sports seats. I couldn't be without.
