Recall work has me worried, seeking advice

How hard do i push here?

My dealer has had our X3 in for 4 days for the ISOFIX recall, says it may be ready by Saturday (Friday is a holiday here). Turns out the dealer is not doing the work, their "bodyshop" is, which is a good 45 minutes away.

So a) do i demand to know who exactly is doing the work and b) how do i know if they are doing it correctly? I suspect we are one of the first vehicles to have this work done, i pushed for it as we have a 5 month old but now i am worried they are botching it.

Thoughts, feelings, emotions?

I work for a BMW approved garage and have been doing some of the isofix recall jobs and it's only a 2 and a half job so chase it up buddy they're probably just busy and haven't got round to doing it yet

Thanks, i feel a bit better knowing the shop, when i called they said "our shop in Vaughan" and i thought they meant some indy as i have seen the local Merc dealer handing wads of cash to the dodgy guy i get my bodywork done with.

It's seems like a pfaff backed shop which helps but really, 5 days?

Chances are that they have a limited labor pool dedicated to this warranty repair, and they totally overbooked.

It's kind of late, with Canada Day being tomorrow, and you're getting your car back on Saturday, but here's what I would do:

Ask the Service Associate, and the Service Manager if you're not happy with the SAs answer, to explain why a less-than-half-day repair took 4+ days. They're surely not being reimbursed by BMW for 4+ days of labor.

If your car still isn't ready on Saturday, and you want to be a hard-ass about it, and you have the time, insist on driving to the repair location and inspecting your car to ascertain that they have not bungled the job and are fixing additional damage which they caused during the repair process.

probably a lot of cars in for the recall.
I know when I took mine in for recall, there were already 10 cars in service bay for same thing.
2 days without it and oil service was done

Pfaff on Dixie.

Someone screwed up, car was not delivered to the dealership when it should have been yesterday so they are dropping it off at my office today.

Good to have it back if only to keep the wife quiet, has been RELENTLESS in complaining about not having it, suddenly the Saab is not good enough for her.

Just dropped mine off today for the recall, console USB fix and connected drive store software update (mine was getting an error). Dealer said should have it back for Wed a.m.

I'm at Pfaff. Always very satisfied with their work and their word.

Sorry to hear. Just my 2 cents working with this dealer over the years. I've always had the car(s) back when promised and always fixed right the first time. I've no reason to doubt them this time around.

Oh...1 exception about 4 years ago with the roof seal on my old z...took an extra visit to sort that one out.
