Golf Tee Mod - Disconnect Q

Hi Guys,

Just opened up the rear left area of the trunk - can someone help me figure out which one it is for the valves to disconnect?

I have a 35i, maybe someone can circle it in the picture

I think it would be this since judging by other photos it has that silver clip:

There is no need to unplug the electrical connector. In fact, if you do, I think it won't do anything IIRC. Did you check afterwards by looking into the exhaust After a cold start up?

It works the opposite way on these cars as it does on the N54 cars, where the electrical connector maintains vacuum typically that keeps the valve shut, so by unplugging it, it opens the flap all the time. Whereas in our cars, the vacuum from the engine comes from the front thru the tubes, and that's what keeps the flap closed. The valve operates with vacuum and the solenoid in the trunk gives it vacuum when needed. So you have to bypass them.

I went off of this old guide and it worked.

Where can i get the two-inlet vacuum hose connector?

Lotus99 is correct ... on my N54 335is I simply unplugged the connector in the trunk and both pipes/ports opened up and the sound change was awesome. When i got my new to me 2015 X4 35i, I disconnected the first day and noticed that only one pipe was emitting exhaust .... so after a little research I simply wired the actuator open as per posts 17-19 at the link below:

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=814739

To check it out, cold start your ride and reach in behind the rear wheel and manually actuate the linkage by hand (before the pipes heat up) and you will see and hear that both ports will be open and sounding good!

Entire process took 7 minutes ...
