Full internet possible?

I just ordered an X3 with Professional Nav. (April Build) I did not get the 6NR option as I only use Blackberry's. Does anyone know if it is possible to get full internet access on the nav either through an upgrade or tethering?

Thanks

Think you can do a google search with BMW Assist, but there is no Web Browser.

Internet is now an option in the UK. Gives you a full browser in iDrive

I would think if it is available in UK then there should be some way to get it here in the US. I have an April build so it does have all the latest tech. I just didn't get the 6NR option. Someone has to know for sure if this is possible.

The web access is an additional monthly option to the supplied BMW Assist (in US).

The dealer's internal fact sheet in the uk describes the "Internet" option as "£95 for a 3 year subscription", but it does say "no retro fit" even though no suggestion of internal hardware. Someone here posted a quote from BMW stating hardare upgrade involved, - but thats got to be marketing pants or just lazy BS ? In the unlikely event I apologise in advance to BMW if in fact they are being straight.

For the U.S., I assume that then with BMW Assist (which is included in the Technology Package), then web (google search) access is possible (even without BMW Apps and Smpartphone Integration).

Is this correct?

Google search yes. Full internet access no.

Potentially through BMW Apps but not at the moment to my knowledge. Also potentially if the US follow the UK and allow you to specify Internet as an option.

I'm not convinced a full browser would be particularly useful using the iDrive controls but we'll wait for feedback

I looked on the UK Configuration but did not see this as an option. Are you currently using this functionality? What was the cost?

I see you can get TV on your Nav Screen in UK. Pretty cool but a bit expensive. Also, I am sure it is disabled while driving so just like anything, how useful would it be.

BMW online works in motion for me (news, weather, sport etc)

You do have to accept a warning about using in motion

It is there, called simply "Internet" - code is 614. I don't think anyone has it yet as it's only been available to order for a couple of months and lead times in the UK are well over 6 months. I think it definitely will be disabled when driving and I agree that it has very limited use - for me at least

I wonder if there will be I-Drive hack sites forthcoming to enable hidden features.

I found it. Amazing how we can get it. It must be just a software upgrade. Someone will hack it. LOL
