Totally confused about 6NR
I know that this may have been covered, but I'm still confused. Can someone explain this in layman's terms?
I'm planning to purchase X3 with Technology Package which includes 6nl and 615. I do not own iPhone and not planning. I'm Android person. Should I include 6NR in my package. I've read several other threads. It seems that this gives you iPhone compatible connector and has no value for Android phones. If some day BMWApps become available on Android, is Bluetooth sufficient or will it need 6NR? |

Probably. It includes a physical connection cars like mine w/o 6NR don't have.

Currently, BMW Apps is only available for iOS devices. If you have no intention on switching to the iPhone, then it probably makes little sense for you. On the other hand, for $250 MSRP, you could always add it in the hopes that one day BMW offers it for Android. Truthfully, with the exception of the plugin feature (that requires an additional $250 snap-in), I rarely use the other Apps. If you're a Pandora fan, you may like it; however, using Facebook and Twitter while I drive isn't exactly all it is cracked up to be. Needless to say, when I ordered my wife her F25 yesterday, we ordered BMW Apps. Here's something else to consider... BMW often makes very little sense when it comes to technology adaptation. For example, to use the "Office" email feature in my Connected Drive E90, you must own a BlackBerry device; why this would be the case when they are obviously pushing Apple devices again, makes no sense. So...hopefully this clears the 6NR debate up for you. If you don't plan on switching to the iPhone, it's probably not for you. Your Android device will still connect to the car via Bluetooth and the usb adapter (assuming you purchase the related options- usually just ZPP). Hope that helped and didn't make you more

I placed an order without 6NR, but keep thinking what happens if I decide to get iPhone later.
Can 6NR (BMW Apps) be ordered and retrofitted after I take delivery of the car? Another question, does 6NR works with iPad? |

As it stands now, BMW will tell you that it cannot be retrofitted however it seems that there have been some OEM parts that make it indicate that maybe BMW will do it in the future. However, they've told me that it cannot be done now. There may be a 3rd party installer that would be able to do it.
I thought I had heard from someone that 6NR doesn't work with iPad, but I can't recall - perhaps I heard wrong. It seems like it should. |

6NF (Smartphone integration) and 6NL (BMW assist w bluetooth and USB) already in my package.
Does 6NR removes 6NF (Smartphone Integration) or it supplements it? I may as well just get 6NR now instead of regretting it later. Last edited by alexg62; 04-08-2012 at 07:25 PM.. |

6NR includes 6NF. Just get it. You'll be pissed if your car hits 150 status and you can no longer add a $250 option.
