Why on earth there is a gas peddle in my 2011 28i

No matter how much I baby it in city I get around 20 mpg and 26 on hwy using the peddle. When I use cruise computer shows me 32-35 mpg and 36 mpg around 40-50 mph zone. Is this computer nuts in cruise mode ? . I mean I really could not go to mohavo desert to try out a 400 miles ride on cruise control!

did you mean pedal, cuz peddle means to sell illegal items?

Do you really avg 36 MPG or the instant MPG meter is pointing 35 MPG? Also, is your RPM shows the same reading when using cruise and pedal? I wonder it's the gear that is in cruising speeding, you might average more if you are in 8th gear and maintaining 50mph.

Numbers sound about right and on par with what we see. The most inefficient time of your driving is when you accelerate. Like siva mentions, you are seeing great numbers with CC on @ 50 mph cause you are in 8th gear turning less than 2k rpms.

If you went to the desert and ran in a straight line @ 65 mph I bet you'd get 27-29 mpg depending on the winds. We consistantly get 26-27 mpg on a 160 mile round trip we take to our weekend cabin which consists of country roads @ or around 60 mph (sometimes I go a little faster but don't tell!)
