Dumb question of the day - coolant float

OK, I admit it, I have had my 2013 X3 a good while and can't have checked the coolant level in the engine bay until now. The onboard display has always shown a full reading but I was surprised to find I have no float under the rad cap. I have looked up the round expansion tank part and see no sign of a float but I will be off to the dealers to buy one - unless anyone can advise me on this.
thanks,

Now sorted

Greetings, poiuytre111 - our X3's coolant level is gauged by the plastic guide in the neck, so if the level is not visible between the 'Min' and 'Max' additional coolant needs to be added (it doesn't use a float to my knowledge). I've filled a fair number of times as our previous 2011 X3 35i developed a leak the system, and actually just 2 weeks ago on my 2012 X3 35i. I'm including a screen capture from the X3's owner manual.

Many thanks, a torch helped a great deal
I found the level was a bit above max so the min/max markers were only visible when I pointed a torch in - not what I had been expecting.
