Warning - electric towhook.
I am about to use my electrically operated towhook for the first time. Have only done a couple of operation tests before.
I did another testrun, and this time towhook stuck and warning telling me not to use it. Visited dealer tuesday and, since guarantee is out, had to pay SEK 1495 - £120 - $180, to have diagnostic done. Result: BMW had discovered in april 2015, that tolerances could make towhook non-operational. Completely new software could handle the situation - a three hour operation. I got a loaner and picked up car 5 hours later, without paying for the new software. Still the SEK 1495. Discussion: I am disappointed that BMW did not order a free software update for customers coming in for service having factory installed electric towhooks prior to april 2015. I have booked a skylift - and painter -for painting my house, and would have been in deep shit if non-functional towhook. |

Interesting. Is there anything official from BMW regarding this?
In Norway we have 5 year warranty, so for me it's still covered, but as I use the hitch quite often, I would like to hva this fixed before the problem occurs. |

Obviously this is only for vehicles manufactured before april 2015, but if so, you should get new software - which obviously eliminates problem - for free.
DIAGCODE: D6320_AAG00000_90_212. Whatever that means God Tur! |

Mine is manufactured before that, but my guess is that my local dealer "have never heard about it", and refuses to do anything, as there isn't anything wrong...
Anyway, thanks for the info. Tack så mycket! |
