The 3GT and this are the same car. I don't get it.

As for wagon not selling, have you looked at their pricepoint compared to an X3 ? You really have to WANT a wagon to buy one, because economically, it makes no sense -at all-

The BMW X4, the answer to a question never asked.

I've said before that the 3GT and this car will overlap - a lot. I do think the X4 is a much better looking car though.
They should also sell a better looking version of the F30 alongside the F30. You know, for those people who want a 3 series sedan but don't like the way it looks. Call it the 3S (using Apple terminology). It will be to the 3 series sedan what the X4 is to the 3 series GT.

Hey now. Surely, someone in the BMW Thinking Room or the management asked this question:
Now how do we come up with a car for someone who -
  • Wants a sporty car
  • Might buy a 3 series coupe, but probably needs the extra two doors and definitely needs more cargo space
  • Thinks the F30 is a little stodgy
  • Wants AWD
  • Values a little extra ground clearance on snowy days
  • Can't afford the X6, does not need the extra cargo space in the X5 or has no room in the garage for either of them
  • Does not like the looks of the new 3 series GT
  • Does not like the X1 or the X3 and/or does not need the extra cargo room of either
  • Thinks the X1 and/or X3 are too cheap for his status and wants to start off with the number 4

I want it. I think it looks great.
Its the more practical sports car. Definitely not a grocery getter.
I'd love to see it without the chromed wheels.

Also, if I had the money I would spend $130K on the new M6. So what if it loses all the comparison reviews? If only they added more fake sounds to it.

They should have 1 series GT and 2 series GT with plastic vents on the side. The back of the GT cars should get bigger with the series. 5 series GT rear > 3 series GT rear and so on.

They should also start a new body type: 2 door sedan and call it the GranSedan.

Finally, they should continue selling 320d masquerading as 328d and 328d as 335d as long as they don't have rusty seats - I hate tetanus injections or injections of any sort.
Now that's some funny sh*t

That car will be called the 4 series Gran Coupe.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that car. Too much to keep up with. :-/

What about people who do not like the way the new 3 series coupe looks but want a BMW coupe anyways that is different from the rest? For them, BMW should make a 3 series Gran Sedan. A coupe that looks like a sedan. Or a sedan with 2 doors.

I've never been a fan of the x6, but this I could get used too...

I hope those headlights (or similar ones) end up on the x3!

Theyre coming out with the 3 series GT and now when all these become available, people are going to have a hard time choosing between the 3 Gt, 5 Gt ,x4 and x6. 4 cars that look exactly alike with the exception of a few inches in size....

Because it's not the 90s or early 2000s.

I like the X4. Here's the target buyer:
  • Wants a sporty car
  • Might buy a 3 series coupe, but probably needs the extra two doors and definitely needs more cargo space
  • Thinks the F30 is a little stodgy
  • Wants AWD
  • Values a little extra ground clearance on snowy days
In 2000, there was no car anything like this. Having it around it totally positive for me.

Pls do a side-by-side with a 3-GT.

Except the 4-series additions & curve the overall dimensions seem same.

I was hoping for more of an Evoque shape, instead of 3/5 X6. But BMW has bought into a single design style, 3 sizes, for all of its products.

3 Sedans
2 GTs, maybe a 3rd.
1 Gran Coupe, possibly a 2nd.

All look similar, just different sizes.

BMW Sales pitch in 2015:

Would you like a coupe, a sedan, a coupe-like sedan (GS), a sedan like coupe (GT), a SUV or a coupe like SUV. And what size would you like it: Small, Medium, or Large.

I thought the X6 was not a success to BMW. Why make another vehicle that looks like X6?

It's the age of the Interwebz, and people will tell you what they want to be true, rather than what is. The X6 was a controversial vehicle, for sure. It got a slow sales start, but in its lifespan has met or exceeded sales targets. Source

The X6 and X4 are similar in that both are totally derivative of an existing platform - and in the case of the X4 one whose costs are several years deep into amortization. So it's not all that expensive, in the grand scheme, for BMW to bring the X4 to market - much less than it was for them to develop and introduce the F30, for example.

This is a niche market. It has its target market. Its ok if you are not part of it...
Although it may not be everyone's cake, but I strongly believe, BMW is pretty solid at making original footprints...remember X5-the first ever luxury SUV? or X6 the first ever sport coupe SUV? M-B has been trying the past 2 years two release a x6 similar SUV. Doesn't that tell you something?

I think the X4 is a great median between an X3 and X6...provided that the price range is also in that median range.
I would trade in my X3 with X4 any day (although I must say my X3 is a fantastic piece of art)
Anyone knows the release date for X4?

I respectfully disagree with your comment...X6 was surprisingly successful if you consider it within its Niche Market and its target market.
