why changing the oil every 5 months?
we're not in 70' anymore, oil can maintain their properties for years without degrading nor pH change. I just complete a lab test on my oil changed in 2022 and previous change was in 2019, and we got T° from 30°C in summer and -26°C in winter. All good, I had only 5400 km on it. Anyway, do what you want, but its a waste for sure for any good oil brand. In all my bmw and all my audis I use Liqui Moly Leichtlauf 5w40 |

Anyway, I don't use the OE BMW oil, I use Motul 8100 X-clean+ 5w30 instead, it's LL-04 BMW approved, ACEA C3. |

5 months is overkill just based on time for sure, but I don't agree about going years. The general recommendation is a year or a certain number of miles, whichever comes first. I use 7,000 miles as my standard, but since I never drive that far in year, I just change my oil once a year.
