M Sport Paint Chips Rocker Panels & Wheel Arches Etc.

Is anybody noticing rock chips behind the tires on the wheel arches and rocker panels with the M Sport package? I am having a clear bra installed this weekend and sure would appreciate a heads-up to know where to protect.

Thanks!

My installer suggested covering several places like that on the MSport pkg (based on work he had done on the X5). I didn't bother with it though. No marks to date.

I clear bra'd all of the pink and blue areas. I only have 1500 miles so I cant really tell ya where the hot spots are..

Thanks Sard. What you had done is just about what I had in mind. I know from past experience any bodywork that is in line and proud of any protection eventually gets hammered. In my mind mud flaps just don't fit with the M Sport, so not an option for me. Another spot I like to have done is the top of the bumper just outside the hatch.. keeps the paint protected from loading and unloading.

I have the same thread going for this as well. I'm looking at a custom job.

Here's what I'm looking to do:

- Full length hood
- Full length fenders
- Full bumper
- Full side view mirrors
- Full rocker panels
- A pillars and roof (up to sunroof opening)

I called 2 local companies so far and they quoted $1500 and $1848 (Canadian Dollars).

My guy here in the Pacific Northwest typically quotes $850 for bumper, partial hood and fenders, lights, and mirrors. He uses full sheets and custom fits. The advantage over pre-cut kits is that all edges are wrapped (especially the leading edge of the hood) including the removal of the hood emblem and placement of the film for a seamless detail.

He has done a number of cars for me so typically gives a little price break and will throw in extra areas for no charge.

That's pretty good pricing considering the amount of work you are getting done.
