How do you move along sound tracks via the keys on the steering wheel???

I noticed this being not very convenient.
If I need to change the tracks via the keys on the steering wheel, there's the little button on the right hand side and besides the volume control that turns inward/outward to change the tracks. In fact it doesn't change them; all it does is to show you the available tracks (below the odemeter) and then you need to press it. So:
1- How do you change the tracks just like the arrow buttons on the stereo itself < > ?
2- How do you change albums (MP3) without the help of the iDrive?

Anyone has the same issue???

1 - you can't. > is roll down one track and press, < roll up one and press
2 - you can't. Could try voice control but good luck with that
