These Yokohamas are going on my X3 from new, it's being delivered on Wednesday so I'll let you know how I get on..
http://www.tyretraders.com/tyreInfor...1799HG012.html Possibly too aggressive for you though? They only need to be 'H' rated for speed as the UK spec cars are all electronically limited to 130 mph.. Guy |

Thanks Guy. These did appear when I did a search and looked pretty good. I will work on some snow (don't laugh, they had frost up north last week) for you to come test them. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Can I be rude and ask if they are standard, part of your deal or are you paying extra for these?

I've bought them myself and will get them changed myself, I'll probably then put the standard tyres on ebay to get rid of them.
Just ordering a standard car from my local dealer has been frustrating enough - I wouldn't dream of asking for anything unusual to be done! They are struggling with even a simple cherished transfer.. |

Yes correct, the car was delivered this afternoon, standing on Dunlop MAXX TT tyres in 225/60/17 size as expected.
Only driven the car about 15 miles so far but if feels fantastic, 6 cylinder engine is really grunty and sounds great. Ride and handling superb, really encourages you to drive it fast! The car has one or two issues unfortunately, worst probelm is that the reversing camera has not been fitted fitted as ordered, dealer says they can retro-fit it, but not yet as the parts are not available, may be a few months wait.. The back seat leather has a mark on it and the optional 'wave wood' of the centre console has some light scratches in it. Hopefully the dealer will fix these issues ASAP Overall I happy but not quite as happy as I should be... Last edited by guycashmore; 07-20-2011 at 12:35 PM.. |

Congrats Guy. Hope they get things fixed. For interest to all, this link takes you to a site owned by the BTMA (British Tyre Manufacturers Association) which has useful information on tyres. 7th article down are some performance comparisons. http://www.btmauk.com/page/useful-in...ce-statements/
I am at a bit of a loss to understand why BMW sell an all weather car and show adverts with snow, yet actually deliver the car with tyres the tyre manufacturer themselves says are not at their best below *7 degrees centigrade (and don't tell you this). I too am going to switch but will leave the work and cost to BMW.* |

By luck, I had to go on a 350 mile business trip yesterday, mostly on twisty A roads.
I'm very impressed by the grip and handling of the Dunlops, I am now thinking about not fitting the Yokohamas for a couple of months yet, wait until the weather turns. Decisions, decisions.. |

No need to change above 5C if you believe the document above. Has anyone consider the BMW tyre hotel option some dealers offer? I am advised if you swap tyres on the same rims tyre dealers will charge around £80 per year for this (4tyres x £10each x on & off). Add to that the price of winter tyres and then maybe wheels and the switch becomes pricey. Also worth noting (above link) that winter tyres only do well in cold wet and may not be so good in cold dry.
