Completely agree on the Q5 and I also didn't notice the offset pedals test driving the manual X3 TBH, but I do get a little bit uncomfortable sometimes with my feet position, even driving the auto. I think I have a better seat position now and I'm happier with my setup than I was. You should be OK but may have to play around with your driving position to get it right. The footrest is redundant for me and I keep my left foot on the floor to the left of the brake most of the time.
