New to the 2013 X328i. My washers (front and rear) will not function. This is a new development. The reservoir is full. There are no pump sounds, both front or rear. The wipers function as normal. The crazy thing is I turn the car off and then back on and it all works as normal. Rinse and repeat. It's cold outside. Maybe 30 degrees F. Does this have any bearing? Is there some BMW algorithm that says no washer fluid below a certain temp? I do have the cold weather package so I see what appears to be heating wires wrapped in and along the fluid line. Any ideas anyone?

It's probably frozen in the line. I'd just get some that is for lower temps, typically purple, and pour some in.

I thought that too except no pump noise. Unless the pump rotor is frozen. The car is new to me so who knows what they filled it with?

I don't know what all the cold weather package has in it, but I can tell you, the first winter I had my X3 the washer fluid reservoir and the washer pump froze up very quickly. I mean, it wasn't even all that terribly cold out, below freezing of course, but even blue washer fluid is supposed to be resistant to freezing down to a certain temp. But mine froze up probably in the mid to upper 20's.

The washer fluid reservoir sits behind the passenger fender but on the outside of what I would consider the "engine compartment," so it doesn't get the advantage of absorbing much of the heat that is generated in there. It gets the brunt of the cold temps, though.

I would get the car inside of a garage; if you have a heater, put it up near the front passenger side area of the car and let it warm up. I bet it un-freezes your washer pump. Then, I would spray out all of the fluid in there and replace it with the purple power washer fluid, or the Rain-X orange stuff (which is what I use). Never had a problem since switching to Rain-X.

Thank you. I agree. Mid 20's around here so you, it'll have to into the garage to warm up. Makes perfect sense.

Mine froze this winter as well, but I could still hear the pump when trying to use it. I'm assuming that it had a summer mix, which I had never considered. Regular -20 washer fluid is pretty cheap stuff.

The temp warmed up and I have washers back. I'll flush out what appears to be basically soapy water and put some proper fluid in.
