I may have a chance to quickly add the HUD to my order that's scheduled for production already, my dealer will try!

I need to know for sure, if you get the HUD do you automatically get the extended LCD display on the instrument cluster? I need to know for sure!

Yes. You can see the instrument cluster change from full round gauges to the 3/4 circle gauges on the configurator whenever you add HUD. That the bottoms are missing is indicative of the black panel LCD that follows the bottom of the upgraded instrument cluster. All of the lettering, signage, and warnings are hidden when the car is off--no cutouts visible in the sun, no visible symbols of options you didn't get, totally smooth. Really a great option.

Okay i'll let my dealership know then. I just hope they are able to add it to my order. I have production set for next month

Dealer tells me that HUD option for Canadian X3 does not come with the LCD blacklit display. It seems that way for them. What should i do?

I got a hold of the canadian line and they confirmed that the dashboard display do not change when you add the HUD option. Now im still confused because i recently saw a post of a person in Alberta who received their car with it, and its obviously canadian


Since my dealer is unable to order it i canceled the request. They claim it's not available on canadian X3 but i believe it is since i saw on the forum before. Maybe it's tied to different options and or package like the executive package which i didn't order

I believe in the uk the extended black panel display comes with the pro nav.

I have pro nav and HUD coming on my car.

The UK website states that the media package pro includes "Full Black panel display" (see here)

However, try using the configurator and looking at the dash and the display is NOT the one shown at the top of this thread unless you also click the HUD option. It seems there are at least 3 different displays:

1. Standard display - small display approx 1.5" by 1". Traditional gauges for MPG etc.
2. Pro display - larger 6:1 display with partial LCD dials but still full edge dials for speed/rpm
3. Pro+ HUD - Full black display with cut away dials

I'm working on the basis that I won't be getting the top end display shown above even though I have Pro Nav. A scan of recent LCI interior posts on here suggests that my guesses above are correct.

I saw the last picture when i added HUD and i was expecting to hear from the dealer as in yes thats what your getting, but it was no they cant order those LCD screen, and i called bmw genius canada and they confirmed that X3 doesn't come with it >

I think you are right and that it does, but i dont want to spend $1500 on HUD option and have the risk of not getting it then i would be very upset. Especially since everyone is telling me that its not coming with the nice backlit lcd.

I'm waiting to get my X3 in a month in Canada, and was really hoping the dash would come with the full width LCD display. Reading this thread, I may be up for a small disappointment.

Can anyone confirm in Canada, for the 2015 X3 with NAV, which LCD will be installed?

Tufflittleunit posted pictures of it. If i understood it correctly your car's dashboard should look like the middle picture which is what I should receive as well.

I'm only copying and pasting images from the BMW UK site so don't take what I say as definitive (particularly as BMW UK seem incapable of making an LCI brochure available almost 6 months after launch)

I'm fairly confident that if you have Pro Nav then you should get a wide display on a 6:1 ratio. Exactly what it displays and how it fits with the gauges ... I'm guessing as much as you.

HOWEVER, I already have a 2011 F25 with no nav and the basic iDrive and to be honest even this standard display is pretty good. I hardly look at it when driving.
