Telematics battery replacement?

Where is this unit hiding in the vehicle? any reason to replace this when I have no services though BMW?

From the trunk area, the left side panel needs to be removed and then you'll be staring at this big box. If I recall, to the right side of it there's a slide cover. Slide it to remove it and the battery is there. Looks like an old cordless phone battery from the 90s.

But is there really a reason to replace this if I'm not actively using any of the phone services?
