Wheels for F25
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to get a set of summer wheels and tires for my f25 since the stock wheels currently have winter tires. I found this interesting set of style 89s. They're a staggered 18x8 18x9. Obviously this is not the perfect set of wheels but I think they'd look good. Any thoughts on these and a good tire size to run? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...ssenger_banner Thanks! |

X-drive requires same diameters front and back . The factory 18" square setup is 245/50-18 which is 27.6" tall. So you'd have to run 275/45-18 in the rears to maintain same rolling diameter. Question is will 275's fit? They're a bit wide for 9" but still within reason.
You could use on of those wheel size calculators and punch in the new tire/offset/rim to see how much further it'll stick out but given the ground and fender clearance on these cars I think it'll work. Alternatively, 9" is a sweet spot where you could continue to run 245 front/back even though the rears are wider. |

Hey, thanks for the response!
I ended up getting the wheels and I'm going with a 245/50 and a 275/45 as this was the smallest differential that would work. It will be a beefy setup but we'll see how it works out. It should fit from all the calculators and everything I researched. With the offsets, we'll see about a .9" wider track front and back. Tires are coming in this week so I'll be sure to post pictures. |

I think 245 / 45 and 275 / 40 on 19's are stock staggered sizes. So you're a little tall all around but close. It should be OK if your wheel offsets are good.

20mm should be fine. It’s very similar to than folks who run 9” 30mm. I’m actually planning to run 18x8 et 20 square myself. |

Update: got the wheels and tires on. The fronts definitely poke out more than I'd like but it's livable. They look a little small but it's growing on me. Something a little different. A 235/50 on the front would have looked better but the rolling circumference would have been off. Anyways, thought I'd post pictures for reference.

Hi, sorry to thread jack here. I am trying to find out if my winter setup will have long term effects on my X3. My car originally came with 245/45 R19's square setup. I switched over to my other wheels and tires because I like the more aggressive look. They are 255/55 R18's which I found are 4.7% larger than original. Since all 4 tires are equal will that have an adverse impact on the xdrive? I figure I'll use them until they wear out and then get 255/50's on them instead.
Thanks for the help! Pic for attention |

Thanks! It was really tough to get a straight answer. I can see if you are doing fatter tires in the front vs rear etc. As long as my setup won’t mess up anything then I’ll roll with it.

The idea is that you care about the overall outside diameter of the tire, so that the front and back wheels turn at the same speed. Square setups are perfect. Staggered are fine as long as the height of the tire sidewall (given as a % of the width) is still similar front to back.
Something like 245 / 45 and 275 / 40 (tire width / sidewall height as a % of width) end up giving the same sidewall height results. Not the same exactly, but similar enough. |

might be optical illusion, but your rear toe-out looks off...
