Meaningless torque and hp numbers on sport display

I've coded my F25 to show horsepower and torque "real time" statistics on the sport display. I've got the N55 engine.

But horsepower rarely gets past 200, and torque goes to 400 quite easily. Since specs for the engine peak the torque at 295, does that just mean that what is shown on this display is pretty worthless and inaccurate information?

Why would numbers be so wrong? Where is this information being generated? What are others of you seeing?

This is quite interesting. I've never seen this coded before.

Please post up a video to share.

I have the sport display in my '13 so maybe they include it as standard. Can't say much for the numbers, except I remember HP was low,... maybe unless you really spin the RPM it will be low.

You should note that the torque figures for the N55 are listed as 400 Newton Meters ( see the specs on the new 335 GT ), not the 300 ft pounds we are used to in NA. HP figures are 225 KW not the 306 we see in NA., so seeing 200 On the power scale and 400 on the torque is fine depending on the measurement units.

Is this on the UK spec cars does anybody know? Sounds quite cool.

You would think that the units would be stated on the display to avoid this confusion.

It's on my 30d by standard. When you choose Sport Mode- the Nav screen asks if you want Sports Display. You can also choose it from the IDrive menu.

Thanks Phil...Believe it or not but I have yet to put my 4 week old baby into sport mode (still carefully running it in!). Havn't got Nav either, so don't know if that will affect it. Will check later.

I think you need some specific options to get this, possibly nav?

My display reads hp and ft lbs, but you may be right that even though it says these that it does not actually recalculate in these terms. I will try the old unit on the display and see if that makes any difference. If so, I assume that the vehicle cannot produce these statistics in "US" units.

Interesting... but I doubt your car is hitting 400 ft-lbs.

Here is a short video of my car.
