Debadging the X3

I searched for a thread related to this and could only find one.

I know the UK guys had an option of model designation delete. However, the US didn't have that option.

How would you guys suggest go about removing the "X3" on the trunk?

I am thinking heat and dental floss to pull of the X3. But what if residue remains under the X3. What should I use to remove that?

Goo Gone should work for the glue residue.

3m has a adhesive remover that will work well.
Here is a write up.

I thought about Googone. I am worried about it damaging the paint though.

Ill look into that 3M adhesive remover.

I debadged my Z4, but not my X3. I used dental floss to remove the badges and then I used Mother's Scratch Remover to get rid of the 3M glue.

Worked like a charm and zero damage to the clear-coat.

Just a curiosity, why does one think of debadging his newly purchased X3?

I dont' like the look of the xDrive badges -- not a huge thing, but not my favorite. While washing and waxing things catch on the X3 on the back, though I like the look of it.

This said, I haven't gotten up the nerve to remove the side badges myself!!

Agreed it would look good. If it was a factory option I'd consider it. A home made hatchet job, no thanks.

It's a factory option in Europe I believe. However, it seems easy enough to do and I wouldn't consider it a "home made hatchet job".

+1. The loss of 20 grams and better aerodynamics will significantly improve 0-100 times.

Back on topic, I had the dealer option of badge deletion. I wish I had ticked it now as it's annoying when washing the car.
