XHP Custom Settings
Would be really curious to see what everyone’s XHP Stage 3 settings are. I recently switch to XHP Stage 2 because I felt like Stage 3 was too harsh and I couldn’t dial it in how I wanted.
My settings running a custom stage 1 93octane engine tune are the following… * XHP Stage 2 * Activate line pressure bump - On * Reassign Shift-Speeds - Medium, Medium, Fast * Use stock Shift-Maps |

Is it too harsh on the downshifts? I had a similar issue with my G20 M340i when running stage 3 XHP. My bandaid of a fix was to dial back the aggression on the downshifts significantly. Ultimately I went back to the base stage 2 mapping and found it to be the best for my leisurely driving. Without messing with the settings in stage 3, downshifts shouldn't be so violent that stuffs flying around all over the place in the cabin. Lol. Have yet to get XHP for my F97 but I'm sure I'll end up going with stage 2 and calling it a day as well.

I think both you guys are very right in regards to Stage 2 being the ultimate sweet spot. Although I don't have an XHP TCU tune on my 2020 F97 X3 MC, I do have it on my 2012 E90 335i with the N55. Stage too was way too aggressive for daily drive street car. The ONLY time I loved it was during WOT runs, that's it. And since we don't live in WOT the Stage 3 put way too much stress on my 6-speed auto. Therefore, Stage 2 was the best & most dynamic setting. I would stick with Stage 2 no matter what.

It's an interesting discussion, I'm on the fence of what i think meaning I've had xhp on three vehicle including this one and have generally been happy on stage three. My only real complaint is even though i've tried some adjustments, it seems to hold gears longer under partial throttle then i would like. I just re flashed again with some new adjustments so i guess we'll see...

Certainly a lot longer than my F83 DCT and M240 also with ZF8. I was actually hoping XHP may have solved this to then give me reason to install it. From your experience, does XHP also hold the high revs or drop back and up shift sooner. Finding it frustrating to sit at high revs when not accelerating waiting for a good few seconds for the ZF8 to up shift again. Finding myself manually up shifting all the time with paddle. |

I agree that stage 3 seems better suited for drag/ race and not the street as discussed on partial throttle it holds the gears too long I was on the freeway doing 100kmh and the trans was still in third.
My only complaint about stage 2 is that under heavy braking it doesn’t downshift quick enough. I have just adjusted the OTS map to add 10% to the downshifts will see how that goes. If anybody has experience with the custom edits please contact me.

I've got stage three pretty dialed in at this point so i'm happy with it and don't feel that it's too harsh. I've adjusted shift point in all shifts 1-6 to some positive amount, 7-8 are negative amounts, downshifts 1-6 more aggressive, downshifts 7-8 less, i'm also on medium/medium/fast, i have torque reduction staggered but as high as -38 going down to -20, throttle blips at +25 and i'm feeling ok with the results. Also, with that said the Rod Sutphin tune is out for our vehicles and i've experienced his tune in other models and it's great so that's also an option.

Very curious about your torque reduction settings, do they result in smoother/softer shifts or do you settings have a more satisfying snap into gear? |

One the shiftmap editor DMODE start with basic adjustments +10% 1-5 and leave 678 along and 5-7% 1-5 SMODE and leave 6-8 along. i adjusted these many many times and they do have an affect so it would be to taste. GL

So I actually switched to the Rod Sutphin transmission tune about a week ago and it’s been perfect.
XHP Stage 3 and even Stage 2 when in sport plus shifted so clunky and harsh in comparison. The car feels a lot faster when accelerating. It’s like it’s slips into the next gear without the jolt XHP had but still shifts crazy fast. If you’ve ever had no lift shifting, it feels like that but with a computer doing the shift; absolutely zero loss of power between the shifts. I also upgraded the transmission fluid to Adrenaline Speed Shift per Rods recommendation. https://a.co/d/2mUw8l6 |

Everything is great so far, I'll report back when I get some more miles on it. Coming up on 50K and I also need to do a trans flush, so I'm not trying to get too crazy yet. |
