OEM RooF Rack and Bike Rack
Looking for what options are available for transporting two trail/touring bikes with my 2019 X3 x30i. I'm leaning towards getting the OEM base rails. They seem to be a solid option and much more reasonably priced than aftermarket rails (Thule, Yakima). Are they relatively easy to install and remove? I'm thinking I'd leave them on only during riding season then take them off in the winter.
Has anyone used the OEM roof bike rack? I'm also looking at aftermarket but thought if BMW's racks work just as well I might be inclined to go OEM all the way. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

I've used OEM on all my BMW cars....but for our beloved X3 I would seriously look into installing an aftermarket trail hitch like this one - https://stealthhitches.com/products/...5-2018-present

I went with OEM rails for the same reasons you listed. They’re super easy to install, and remove. I don’t have a bike rack, but I do have a cargo box. I only install them when I need the cargo box, otherwise they’re always off the car.
