Does the new X3 have auto PDC like the new X5? It's a cool feature that I noticed on an X5 I test drove.

Yes. Put it in reverse and PDC turns on.

Sometimes (only sometimes) it notices when I'm getting close to something while moving forward and turns it on then, as well. Of course, when it doesn't notice that I"m trying to park, the system can be turned on with the press of a button.

My new X3 has auto PDC, which you can toggle on/off in the iDrive. i.e. the vehicle automatically activates PDC front and rear when speed drops below 5mph. Fantastic if you live in the middle of know where, useless and bloody annoying if you live anywhere where you might encounter traffic.

Yes works well on the front one as I often forgot to turn it on on my 1series, was a nice surprise to find it switching on automatically

Yes, it's a great improvement over previous. I also took the Surround View option which is a great help when coming out of my drive with the hedge obscuring side visibility. Surround view gives a 180° panoramic view ahead, so you can see anyone approaching on the footpath from both right and left (and also behind if in reverse), and more importantly can see (and get automatic warning) of approaching or passing cars. Very pleased with it.

Have you got it switched on in the settings? My lci has it

Thanks, must be a Regional feature. Settings does not have PDC listed, hence no choice. When PDC button is pressed, no option there either.
Oh well.

I checked mine it's in the settings menu under parking, like you say must be regional.
