Just installed the 2016-1 update on my 2011 X3 Professional. Very easy USB installation.

I expect this is a shot in the dark, but is there any chance this can be used to update the Professional Navigation in my 2014 Mini , or, as I expect, is it not compatible?

No it can't, I asked this question a week ago, technically the iDrive was updated in 2015 to a newer faster processor. So any update from 2015 to present can not be used on a pre-2015 iDrive system. I have a 2012 X3.
