Angry Do not order if you live in UK.. Lead time is ...

Hi people,

not happy having threatened to cancel my order last month and getting an improved delivery time of end of august from original ETA of December my order has now officially been delayed till mid October.. My dealer explained that any new order now placed in the UK would have an ETA of Feb next year..

Quite simply the world wide demand has outstripped supply.

so guys if you want to order the X3 in the UK the current anticipated delicery is Feb next year..... so in reality or my reality of how i have been treated that means a real ETA of March/April Next year..

Why launch a product that you cant deliver !!

I may try and cancel and order the Range Rover Evoque.. my leasing company told me that the Evoque has a build time of 12-14 weeks and i think is a better looking car..

not a happy camper

I seriously feel for folks like you with long wait times, but really? As though BMW owes you an X3 and you've been mistreated, really?

And your solution is to dissuade others from buying the very car you want so badly? It's no longer a good car 'cause you can't have one when you want it?

Why launch it? Because they're selling like crazy might be one reason . . .

Hope you enjoy your Range Rover.

It's actually quite ingenious if you think about it. He's trying to dissuade others from ordering to cut down the lead times for himself. Devilishly clever.

Cancelling is you right I guess and agree lead times for outside of the US are rubbish especially when new posters demonstrate 2 week lead time in the states (there must be some middle ground feb 2012 vs 14 days)

Ordering evoque is joining a longer que and you will really show bmw who's boss by doing this! I guess at this stage your would be just ordering a build slot?

How does the evoque drive? Not like LR have always made best cars unless your a farmer?

Each to their own and sorry your experience has been a bad one with bmw this time especially after the audi

Can't see you waiting any less than 6 months for an Evoque and mid October is just over 6 months. Also a huge gamble to buy without driving one or seeing much in the way of reviews. I don't like the styling on them much, particularly the back but each to their own

The Evoque is not much bigger than a Ford Focus, and the boot is minuscule. I wouldn't buy one, aimed at totally different segment.

If you can't wait there's always ex demos and cancelled orders but I think they'll go quickly and for inflated prices because of the lead times

And the Evoque is quite a lot smaller.

But I agree, the delivery times are getting ridiculous.

Thank god x3's are made in states, I simply can't wait that long for a car. I would have gone for an x6 paying the high price

Yes, I think you're right. I was talking to my dealer yesterday and he reckoned they would get just about full list for their demos.

Surely before too long BMW will address this issue, a waiting time of 8 months + in Europe / Australia cannot be justified when in the States it's only a couple of weeks, it just aint right!!!
I'm surprised the UK dealers haven't kicked off, but then again, once they have your deposit they don't give a ****!!!!!!!!!

Evoque is in the X1 segment for size and X5 for price if you want AWD and good spec.

I feel very fortunate to have ordered mine in February but not needing to have it before November as this is when my company car is due to go back. So my 8 month wait was my own doing. But I was really lucky to have gone looking when I did as I had no idea there would have been such a long lead time.

Still, even though I don't need the car yet I want it. It's going to be a long 7 months!

I guess that I was very lucky. I just walked into my local dealer who had preordered X3 including a bunch of 28i's and one fully loaded 35i that I ended up with. Little do I realize the demand and backlog that everyone else seems to be experiencing.

the lead time in the states isn't 2 weeks, more like 2 months if you custom order a 35i, sure its not absurd like in Europe, but its not an instant spot on the production line either. Although now I am thinking if I want a 2012 I should order by July to ensure I get one by October, just sucks not knowing what 2012 prices will be or if there will be any changes, like additional colors...

Chucky, I could not help nodding my head when I read your post last week in which you told that "the dealer had made some calls to the factroy to improve your lead time".

You didn't really believe that a dealer (in the UK) could just call the factory (in SC, USA) and improve a lead time did you?

There are two options: you are very naive, or your dealer is a liar. Let's hope it's the latter...

ps. make the best out of it and enjoy the fact that you will have a very rare car when it is finally delivered!

Run a fast as you can away from Landrover, just finally got rid of my Craplander. Worst car ever with zero resale value. And very crooked service.
