Brake calipers that don't begin to corrode/rust after the first few years!

Garage List
2001 Honda NSX  [0.00]
2009 BMW M3  [0.00]
2004 BMW M3  [0.00]
For X:
-Rear bumper protection on the upper portion.
-Wireless phone charging
-Trunk lift height sensor.
-Small storage under rear seats.

For rest of the range:
-Code build in cameras to record while driving.
-Finger print door unlock if key gets dropped from outside with windows slightly opened (For parents with very clever kids) and BMW assist isn't available due to being in a underground parking structure and spare is many many miles away.
-Seat side bolster auto tilt outwards when engine shuts off. For all sport seats in the BMW range to minimize leather crease and ease of access.
-Ugly donut spear just in case it's 0300 hour and every tire shop is closed.
-Slightly curved head rests for round headed people like me who does not enjoy bouncing my head against the rear window.

A larger windshield washer fluid reservoir. It doesn't seem like I use it too often, but with the windshield, the rear hatch window and the headlight washers it is about half way to the next service when the warning light goes on telling me the fluid is low.

Hey??!!

You fill it up and you have to fill it again half way between services? This is on a car that can do 18000 miles or 2 years between services??

I tend to fill my washers up once a fortnight on my BMW and Merc between Oct and March and probably every 4 weeks during summer.

How many miles do you do between services? 1000 or something??

On a 2.8 the service indicator goes off every 6000 miles, which is about every 3 months. Not sure if it is because it is the 2.8 and not the 3.5. My Z4 has always been 15,000 so it was a bit surprising it is so comparatively short.

To maintain the numbering of Wish List items for Scott and BMW's design team, have summarized those that were not numbered within this thread to assist in separating out the comments from actual requests:

62. Comfort seats like the ones in the X5 (Mike RR, 21 Aug 2014)

63. A much better range of colours please (cc3, 20 Jun 2015)

64. Sport seats and paddle shifters should be an option without forcing us into M Sport
65. Go back to the old cruise control stalk setup
66. Radio seek buttons on the steering wheel
67. HVAC temperature setting shouldn't show "0". If it can't be changed, don't display it (Schmed 21 Jun 2015)

68. Add a luxury line interior (see original post for picture) (X4guy, 21 Jun 2015)

69. A dependable working clutch. I'm on my third pedal box, and the one they just installed as part of service is behaving worse than my second set! (buze, 18 Aug 2015)

70. BMW needs to offer more items as standard equipment - especially in comparison to what other manufacturers provide as standard [Xenon headlights, Leather, Full-sized screen, LED Tail lights , Rear view camera and PDC (this is a 2016 DOC (USA) mandatory item I think), Satellite Radio] (exilio, 19 Aug 2015)

71. Provide a cloth seat option. (exon, 21 Aug 2015)

72. Offer an xDrive25D model with L4 2.0 diesel and 231 CP. It would be the sweet spot of the range. You have it in the X1 and in the X5, but not in the X3. (Frank SF, 21 Aug 2015)

73. A plug-in model with at least 200 miles range. Just use an upgraded i3 powertrain and price it around 60k before rebates. (Barbera335, 25 Aug 2015)

74. Place a traffic button (TA) on the steering wheel (AlphaMendoza, 28 Aug 2015)

75. Upgrade the interior
76. Upgrade the panoramic sunroof (noisy in cold climate)
77. Quieter cabin with better insulation to block road noise (nyalpine90, 14 Dec 2015)

78. Wrap the sun visor, the current material feels cheap. (E90SLAM, 14 Dec 2015)

79. Correct the offset driving pedals in the right hand drive models (A1traveller, 17 Dec 2015)

80. Brake calipers that don't begin to corrode/rust after the first few years (Greg2010, 17 Dec 2015)

81. Faster changes on the auto box in Comfort mode and don't lock out 8th in Sport mode (cc3, 18 Dec 2015)

82. Rear bumper protection on the upper portion.
83. Wireless phone charging
84. Trunk lift height sensor.
85. Small storage under rear seats. (Envyscorpio, 16 Feb 2016)

86. A larger windshield washer fluid reservoir (cs32, 17 Feb 2016)

It will be interesting to see how many of our 86 'Wish List' items make it into the production vehicles.

Not tie moonroof into ther packages/options. To get comfort access, lumbar support and Sirius radio I have to also get the moonroof. I don't want a moonroof. I don't want the added weight and I don't want the cost.

These are the best two suggestions.

I want an X3 with an analog crankcase dipstick, the kind you remove, wipe with a rag, stick into the crankcase, and view oil level. Retain the extant digital version to bolster its self-esteem.
And a donut spare tire to complement the runflats.

This seems to be a near certainty, Grande Oso. The question seems to be more about the timing for the G01 and the M editions. Although rumors as to the G01 being introduced in the US in Aug-Sep 2017 and a bit later overseas with the M coming later in 2018 are out there, none of this is being released publicly direct from BMW Corporate it seems.

We may end up trading in our 2012 for a 2017 this Fall, and then in early 2018 picking up the G01 40i with a trade for our 2015. Would be helpful if BMW could provide a rough timeline for the rollout...

17. Design the M Sport Aero to enable addition of mud flaps

18. Make the auto tailgate a standard feature
Autoevolution.com has an interesting article on the G01 with some accompanying spy photos (credits to Carpix) apparently taken near the Spartanburg factory. Scroll down to number 16 entitled "2018 BMW X3 Spied at Spartanburg factory" to read about it and view the 16 photographs with some of the camo covering removed. Note in photos 15 and 16 it appears they might be considering placing a Class III/IV hitch (at least as an order possibility)!

Looking forward to the release...

With the recent thread by Steve in Liverpool discussing wireless technology-based thefts of vehicles ( http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1345188 ), will add:

90. Maximize defensive abilities against software/WiFi/Bluetooth-based attacks with robust anti-hacking and firewall protection. As this would seem to be a constantly evolving threat, much as PC-based Antivirus and Firewall programs allow for frequent updates, how would one maintain currency of codes against such?

I would like Merino as a leather option as I don't find the existing leather in the X3 to be luxurious. It's durable but borderline cheap for a car at this price.
