2014 standard headlights
I'm looking at a '14 x3 28i. It has the following packages - M Sport, Premium, Driver Assistance, Cold Weather, Navigation (no technology package).
I was pretty set on getting the xenon's and adaptive lights. But this vehicle has everything else I was hoping for. For current owners, how are the standard headlights on the '14 models? Thanks! |

So is your recommendation to hold out and wait for a 28i with the lighting package? This vehicle is listed at $35k. Very good price considering it has 18k miles with all of the options listed above...

I'd wait for a xenon light package. It's not something you can easily or cheaply add afterwards.

Get the lights. You will regret it if you don't. If you are questioning yourself I'm almost positive u don't want to be without it after the purchase.

I had an F20 118i with halogens before I got my X3 with xenons. There is no comparison, the xenons are worth every extra cent from both a functionality and visual styling perspective.
I'm not sure whether the 2014 has standard LED tail lamps, but on earlier models (mine's a 2012) they form part of the lighting package, so even more reason to get xenons... |

+1! I had a '12 F30 328i with the halogens, could not get over it. You will definitely regret it.

xenon
33K for a 2014 M-sport (with premium, NAV, driver assist pkg and 18k miles) looks excellent in my opinion. I agree that the Xenon looks great with the angel corona LED an I am very happy with mine but maybe you can retrofit it for less than $1200. Why don't you get a dealer estimate on this and then make your decision; You can save considerable $ in the process

on top of the pricey OEM headlight, you will have to pay for the programming. It is not a plug n play

The halogen lights will work but I would also vote for the HID. Modern car halogens are much brighter than they used to but it looks cheap and ugly. I wouldn't say the new $1900 LED options are worth it but the $900 you pay for the HID from halogen is worth every penny. Don't settle for less!

While Im (personally) happy with not having the Xenons I would agree it is a bit like getting a manual - yes its personal preference but on resale it will be missed by most buyers.... For us Xenons were just more then we could afford to pay have spec'd everything else we needed

I believe that along with the xenons you also get the LED tail lights which look marginally nicer than the standard. I say marginally because the brake, reverse, and signal lights are still standard incandescent bulbs.

Passed on the 2014 without Xenons. Found a local one for sale. Thoughts on pricing? Would be private sale. Warranty runs through June 2016.
