Seeking advice - 2016 x3 xDrive35i with odometer issue (minor or not?)

I’m in the market for a used 2016 x3 xDrive35i. I found one that checks all the boxes for me (has M sport package), but it has an odometer discrepancy on its latest Carfax report of about 1.7k miles, this is something I'm trying to get the owner to resolve with Carfax. I live on the west coast and was wondering if these are hard to come by and what a fair price would be for one with around 55k-65k miles? Any thoughts on the odd discrepancy? It could have been a mechanic with fat fingers...

Welcome to the forum.

I would not be concerned with such a small discrepancy in miles reported, really 1.7k miles

Options on the vehicle can vary the value and you only list M sport. Look on the various classified car web sites for similar vehicles to estimate the value.

Thank you, much appreciate the welcome

I guess my concern is if I were to sell the car in 3 years, it would be a conversation I'd have to have with the potential buyer seeing the odometer record not being consistent for the those two record recordings.

Carfax is only as accurate as the people entering the information. Often mistakes are made.

I work at a shop.. I can literally enter whatever the hell i want for mileage. it literally doesn't matter and it becomes record. so, its fine.

Is there a tamper light lit in the cluster? If no, then don't worry about it.

What's a tamper light?

I wouldn't worry about it. No one who's interested in the vehicle for a future sale is going to be scared off by that obvious error in reporting for the vehicle.

What's a tamper light?
If someone replaces a cluster without properly coding it, or tampers with the odometer it triggers a tamper light.

The ODO info is stored in a few different locations to prevent it from being rolled back.

This is all really useful information and advice. Thank you for your responses! I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it.

I didn't know that. In some older cars, if there was an issue with the cluster, it was easy to replace it with a working one. These computers know everything. Thanks.
