First Glitch Before Delivery

I was supposed to take delivery of my X3 35i today. My CA called me this afternoon and told me that they are having difficulty changing the car's software from transport mode to the "normal" mode (or whatever it's called). They are trying to resolve the issue and will let me know as soon as it's fixed. Well, I hope it's not a bad sign of other issues that may come....

Relax, not a big deal.

I think you should refuse the car . . . . and let me have it. How was it spec'd again?

Shouldn't be a big deal. Don't see any reason for it to be a sign of things to come. I'm thinking your glass should be way more than half full with your car about to be delivered! (Not that I wouldn't be going ape-shit having to wait longer after expecting to pic it up.)

what is "transport" mode? is that the same as a "valet" mode that prevents jockeys from messing around with the cars?

I keep forgetting that the world does not revolve around me...hehe. Compare to people outside of US, I am lucky that it only takes about 4 weeks from ordering to taking delivery.

My specs are pretty simple: 35i, AW, Oyster w/ Aluminum trim, premium pkg, technology pkg, premium sound system, and power tailgate.

Well, my CA is off tomorrow. So the earliest I can take delivery will be Friday. I am keeping my finger crossed that I will get to enjoy my new toy over the weekend!!

I have been fully enjoying everyone's picture posts so I will definitely do so (time to give back)

I think transport mode means they cut off the power in the car, a safety measure for shipping cars from SC to dealerships. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Dunno if you bought from Fairfax. I did and had a very good experience with them. Hope you do, too.

No. I actually went out of the way to silver spring. Brought my 328i to fairfax for services a couple times earlier this year and had horrible experiences both times. I did hear that their sales department is much better but I couldn't dare to try.
