My X3 28i M Sport was born today

So I was advised mine was born today meaning its build complete with all packages except HUD and premium sound. Finished in Carbon Black with Oyster interior and Fineline.

I'll be advised when it's scheduled for rail next week but was told delivery will still be approximately end of January.

Anyone know why it takes so long to deliver from build complete? No issue with it but curious.

I live in Oregon but currently in Alaska for work and will enjoy heated steering wheel and seats.

That's exciting news. I was told that it would take between 2-5 weeks to arrive (California) once the build was finished. The dealer gave me an update that it would arrive in two more weeks and then it magically arrived the next day. Total wait was 5 weeks, including a 2 week wait once it was built. IOW, it could show up any time -- don't take too much stock in the 'estimates'. If I check the build status of my X3, which I have been driving since June, the web site still says 'finishing touches'!

The factory closes, I think, from the 20th until January 7. If your X3 doesn't leave the plant before the 20th then it may be marooned for 17 days. Still, that's an awfully long time to take for it to get from SC to OR.

I was quoted 7 weeks from order placement to delivery. Your experience seems to be close to mine.

That's a good point about the plant being closed. I wonder if they need any network guys to join them with hours like that!

My new X3 28i was ordered on 11/29 and it arrived on 12/15. So that makes 16 days. I'm in NJ and don't know if delivery times are that much longer for the 48 contiguous States. Spartanburg, South Carolina is 700 miles from my dealer. If one is in Hawaii or Europe it's understandable that the wait's going to be longer. I would think deliveries to California would just be a few days longer, not a few weeks.

Okay so I just found out it arrived Oxnard today but due to the holiday to expect delivery the first week of January. That's three weeks earlier than estimated!

My daughter and I had a trip planned to visit LeMay Auto Museum in Puyallup Washington that week so it'll be a nice road trip in our new X3.
