\"Accept message\" can I turn it off?

When I start my BMW I get the message that states some information etc. and you must hit accept to turn it off. Stupid question can you turn this off so it does not come up every time I get in my car?

Excuse me, but who made you king where you decide "no hacks are allowed".
You may not want to step outside what BMW has provided but if one our fellow owners wants to and he or she knows the risks, I say let them do what they please.

Work arounds and hacks can be ridiculous but they can also lead to innovation.

This does work but I believe it forces you to accept it if you enter any menus in iDrive.

The forum has a big thread on DVDinmotion already. I don't think the member was promoting the hack but a passing reference.

I bet they record the number of times you select ‘Accept’ so that customers wanting to blame their crash on iDrive will be out of luck if they try to take any legal action against the manufacturer. “Are you telling us that you pressed ‘Accept’ 12,053 times without reading the safety warning?”

You could call it "hack" but I personally see it more as a pair of spectacles correcting the short sightedness of the software designers. I await the "hack" that allows you to switch off the silly warning when you forget to press the button before engaging reverse, rather than have it stay on for 10 seconds during which time you can't see the parking sensors. One of a long list of many flaws like playing an album in alphabetical song title order (???) or leaving an arrow pointing to where you've just been after you've already reached your programmed destination

The arrow pointing thing isn't a "flaw" according to a technical service bulletin BMW posted. This is so that you still know where your destination is after searching for a parking spot. My question is... if they had to make a technical service bulletin to clarify the "feature" then isn't it probably a bad "feature"?

Brilliant! I didn't know that. It's amazing how many people complain about it despite it being "by design". Maybe one day we'll find someone who actually wants this "feature".

As a programmer, I have often tried to pass off flaws or bugs as "by design" often with tongue firmly in cheek. I'm not sure I'd even attempt to do so with the Very Persistent Arrow though. Would love to speak to the guy at BMW responsible and hear his explanation from the horse's mouth. I wish they'd get on these forums and justify their decisions but it won't ever happen. If it was my job and my design, I would want to defend it

Car manufacturers are going to have to change their strategy in dealing with their respective "iDrive" as the software side of the car experience becomes more dominant. Currently, as a means of increasing the value of a new car manufactures don't offer new software features / updates to existing models. You get what you buy and if you want the new flavor you buy a new model. In the not so distant future software updates are going to become similar to phone software updates. I'm sure it will start with your low end techy cars (such as Hyundai's Genesis lineup) but the heavy weights will eventually follow suit. All I really want is Google Navigation instead of this bullshit they currently use... The saddest thing is... I think BMW has one the best interfaces on the market... and it's pretty lousy.
