Hmmm. Interesting. Could there be a pattern emerging here, I wonder?

If I was very being selfish I would say I hope so as I don't have VSS Does Hutt have it? I think it's part of the dynamic handling package in the US

Nope. I got the sport package, tech package, premium package, cold weather, convienence, etc. everything BUT Dynamic handling so I DON'T have VSS. But I DO have the steering issue. The steering assembly came in yesterday but there were 3 other small parts they ordered that didn't come in. So now the ETA to return my vehicle is next Tuesday the earliest.

I understand every new car has its issues but don't you guys agree that it seems like this model has a little more than usual? The E90/92 had is fair share of issues but it was mostly isolated to the HPFP. Now since that car has been around there more stuff breaking down which is expected but I really don't recall this many people with major mechanical/electrical issues within weeks/months from delivery on that platform.

I also had an E46 before my E90 and its had its issues but nothing major at all.

I've always heard the X5 reliability rating wasn't that great either.

The X3 fits the bill in terms of what i need from my next car and I really do hope bmw gets these kinks worked out soon.

Depends how you define usual really. Over time you'll get more and more posts on forums so you can't really compare it with the number of reports on older models. I would refer you to Le Chef's post and actually look at real statistical data rather than guessing that there must be a high chance of getting an X3 with an issue. As I mentioned, take the steering issues and you have 4 reports against maybe about 50,000 F25s produced. Let's say less than 1 in 20 people have reported this issue on this forum and there are in fact 100 new X3s out there with this issue. That's 0.2%. That's not a concern for me really

Yes, to clarify I meant not a concern for me if I was at the point of ordering one now in response to Alan l.

Good luck with yours and hope it is sorted swiftly and begins to restore your faith in BMW...

Update: day 12 and My car is finally "ready for pick up", but get this, after all the drama with this and my local service dept (and I have spared you all most of that) they didn't even call me to tell my car was ready. I called minutes before the service dept closed to do my casual check in since they rarely call me to keep me posted and I was told it was ready. I will pick it up tomorrow. When I called BMWNA last week to complain they said to call them back to discuss "financial retribution ". Their words, their idea, I wasnt even at the point asking to be compensated. Now, I call back and they tell me to talk to the service manager because the service manager is the only one who can request any kind of "compensation" for me from BMWNA. Ugh. I asked the customer relations guy at BMWNA if 2weeks for a warranty repair is typical or something I should expect going forward and he said no, this was a bit extreme. Being my first BMW I must say I am concerned going forward with anymore issues. This one was nothing like I have experienced with vehicles of much lesser reputation. So....what to ask for compensation? I guess I will sleep on it. I just want them to respect my time and me as a customer as I did them by giving them an opportunity to service my vehicle when there is a BMW dealership 20 miles closer to my house.

Just picked it up. So far so good. No issues I have found. Glad to have this behind me and hopefully not have to reopen this thread down the road.
