No BMW X3M

According to a recent interview with high level BMW exec, there is no x3M in the works.

Don't know about you all, but I for one am totally disappointed. Not sure why they don't feel the niche exists.

Hoping that was just intentional misinformation.

Honestly, I tend to think it's kind of odd to transform a SAV, with some off-road potential in an "M" that is absolutely the opposite, a "ready for track" car, that should be lowered and hardened.

Hope it's not true - I'd be the first in line if they made one.

There was an official anouncement a couple of months back from BMWNA that there would be no X3M. Search the boards. It's on here.

The x3 is selling like hot cakes around the world. Yet they still won't make an M for it =•=.

Take off the x6M an replace it with the x3M

It doesn't mean there won't be an X4M. With a Q5S and Macan Turbo on the way BMW will need a competitor. The X4 would be a little sportier and hopefully a whole lot cooler than the X3.

I put 800+ miles on my X3 M-Sport 35i, the car is already a beast. The 0 to 60mph is around 5.5 sec. I'm happy with it, But that's me...I wanted to have an suv with a sports car capability/performance. The X3 35i is right on point!!!

If I recall correctly they said they weren't considering developing one at this time, nothing about BMW stating they will never build an X3M.

They said it is a definite no for the current generation X3. I never said they said never Here is the link to the article:

BMW is insane, the X4 would be a much harder niche to sell than a X3M. The X3 35i is already encroaching on X5 35i territory, the difference is only $3900 which is less of a pricing gap than between the X3 28i and 35i. If X5 and X6 sales are any indication for how well the X4 will do then the outlook won't be good. The X5 sold 102k units in 2010 with 35k in the US alone, whereas the X6 only sold 46k worldwide.

To me it makes more sense considering X model BMWs are essentially just tall versions of the 1, 3, and 5 series. The X3 itself will give most sport sedans out there a run for their money.

This is exactly the point. X3 has become a hot selling item and they would like to capitalize on it by reducing options and varieties.

If you've ever driven a sports sedan back to back with an X3 you will quickly realize that the X3 can't cut it even with DDC in Sport. It wallows and flounders through corners like a hippo that's late for breakfast. The demerits are: weight, center of gravity, and steering corrupted by awd. If you like driving stick to the sports sedan.

I would like to see the X3M. The X5M and X6M are very successful and are proof you can take an SUV and transform it to something even more sporty. Hopefully BMW will move forward with an M version of the X3.
