tinting windshield
Would like your opinion about tinting full windshield on 2016 X3. Does it obstruct your vision driving at night? l live in SC and could use some help to keep the heat out of car, all my other windows are tinted.
My cost is $150, just wondering if it's worth doing. Thanks in advance. |

Great idea. Do it!
I've got 3M Crystalline 70 on my windshield. I love it! UV and heat here in the high desert can be brutal. Cutting down on what makes it into the car really helps on that giant windshield. I haven't noticed any significant difference in visibility. If anything, it's slightly improved. |

Why not just use a decent sun shade? The nylon round wire-based one that I have been using makes a huge difference and only takes a few seconds to put on/off.

window tinting
thanks for all the replies, good comments from everyone.
Having read the regulations for SC, it looks like I have to keep the tinting at the AS1 line. I do have a good sun screen, just wanted to see what is good to keep the sun and heat out while driving. |

It's illegal here, too, but the 70 percent tint on my windshield is completely unnoticeable. As a side benefit, hopefully never used, it'll prevent or minimize glass in your face if anything ever comes through the windshield.

Highly recommended. I have all windows tinted, including front windshield and moonroof.
It really helps with heat as well as glare (night & day). |

Illegal in the UK also. Not that it matters to you in the US.

I have everything in my X3 and M3 tinted, both windshields and moonroof glass... On the M3 I went with Llumar AirBlue 80 for both, on the X3 I did the AirBlue on the windshield but I did Llumar FormulaOne Pinnacle 50% on the moonroof glass. I am extremely happy with both. Living in South Florida you need the heat rejection and both are incredible. Before, you could barely touch the glass inside but afterwards it's just warm to the touch, even after being parked outside all day.
Cost for the windshield was $100 on the X3.

I have all the windows tinted on my X3. Used 3M Crystalline 90 on the entire front windshield and sunroofs. The 3M Crystalline 90 is practically invisible and does an amazing job of reducing heat. However, it is very expensive. The front windshield alone was $175 and $275 for the sunroofs.

Mine is 3M on all windows: 20% Color Stable on the front windows, 35% on all the rears to get all of the side glass matched down to 18%. Then 5% on the sunroof, and 3M Crystalline 70% on the windshield. It was $500 all together, $200 of that just for the windshield. The most I've ever spent on tint, but I couldn't be happier.
