Audible chirp for X3 without Nav

Hi all,

I read that a security alarm is standard on the 2013 X3 -- so audible chirp when locking should be a possibility. I know you can set it to chirp if you have navigation, but what about vehicles without nav?

Does it chirp by default? If not, can you program it to?

Thanks

Aw, I don't even have the car yet and I'm already starting to regret skipping the Nav option... I like configurability.

So by default, it chirps when you lock/unlock or is it silent? My 07 328i and 11 128i didn't chirp at all. But the again, they didn't have an alarm.

Unlock no chirp. Lock, triggers the chirp. You'll have lights flashing either way.

my '12 has no Nav/tech pkg...

Lock - 1 chirp
Unlock - 2 chirps

But when any one of the door is open then it locks without chirp until the doors are closed and you will hear the chirp.

I have 2012 UK (Nav) and there are no chirps when you lock or unlock and have not seen any options of configuring this.

I have a 2012 UK 30d. No chirp on lock or unlock. I don't know any cars in the UK which chirp with factory fit locking. Maybe it's a UK regulation?
Maybe can be enabled via coding?

The presence (or not) of Navigation should not matter. There is still a control display screen on X3s without Navigation, just a smaller one.

There should be three types of chirps. 1 chirp - Lock, 2 chirps - Unlock, 3 chirps - Can't lock (i.e. keyfob in car)

Press the iDrive Menu button, then select Settings, Door Locks. Checking "Acoustic signal for locking/unlock" will enable the lock/unlock chirp.

Skoda's chirp. We have Octavia's and a brand new 13 plate Yeti at work and all chirp once on both lock and unlock as standard.

My 2011 530d does not chirp and doesn't have the option to configure this either.

That clears up A LOT of things... I was under the impression that idrive was something that was only part of navigation... Didn't realize non-nav equipped cars still get the screen and idrive. My 2011 128i is definitely not this way...

Very excited at this point. I'll be picking up my new SG 2013 X3 with cold weather, m sport, comfort access, xenons, and pano on July 4th. I can't wait!

My 2013 without nav chirps, and it can be configured in iDrive. If memory serves, I configured it at launch! I don't really miss having the nav in this car. The regular instrument cluster is still really nice. I hope that you enjoy your new x3, I really have had a blast in the two months that I've had mine.

Try deselecting it and reselecting it.

Press the iDrive Menu button, then select Settings, Door Locks. Unchecking "Acoustic signal for locking/unlock" will disable the lock/unlock chirp. Press the iDrive Menu button, then select Settings, Door Locks. Checking "Acoustic signal for locking/unlock" will enable the lock/unlock chirp.

Likewise. I sorta looked forward to find it after reading this topic... the audible tweet can be annoying (to everyone else) but it could be quite handy..
