2013 X3 RDC/TPMS - Recoding?

Hello - I had problems with my TPMS display sounding an alarm every time I started my car. Dealership told me it was the RDC unit and I needed to have it replaced for ~ $1000. I laughed.

Bought the exact part on ebay (OEM, new) for about $275, which is still high but it was the same price for that part everywhere. So I bought it and installed it in place of the old one (this is the big USB-stick-looking device that connectes under the body near the right rear tire...it's the transmitter for the tires' TPMS valves)

But now, after resetting the warning with Carly/OBDII the same warning still comes on. Trying to find out what to do, I see that a lot of people have to "recode" either the computer or the actual RDC. Not sure.

Does anyone know what I would need (if not Carly/OBDII) and could that be spelled out fairly precisely? I know there are "cables" and "Software" that hook up to a laptop for things like "coding"...I've just never done that if that's what's needed.

TIA!

Rdc must be coded to the new vehicle.
E-sys software would be the easiest. There’s instructions floating on here just search it.
Before you drop the new one in the cradle , seal the seams of the rdc with silicone so water wouldn’t get in because Bmw strategically place this behind the wheel splashed area.
