Picking up mine later today!!!

Ordered beginning of September from BMW Park Lane, so less than 3 months from start to finish for the whole process!

35D MSport, Deep Sea Blue with a few additions...

We ordered our car in early September and I have just been informed that delivery has now moved to week 50, this has gone back twice in the same number of weeks, not entirely sure if we will see it before Christmas. Looking on the bright side, my winter tyres arrived in only 4 days from Germany.

35D MSport

The car is epic, managed to get it home safely Friday evening from Park Lane and London rush hour, but haven’t really taken it out properly to explore it’s true potential. First impressions are very good, it’s very comfortable and the heated sports seats are great. Colour combination of the interior is lovely, black leather & aluminium trim just what we wanted and the Deep Sea Blue is gorgeous! Hooked up the phone yesterday, no issues at all and even got it streaming directly from Spotify. The sound quality is very good and I am happy about that as I cannot stand a ‘tinny’ stereo! The iDrive is very easy to navigate once you have spent 5 minutes playing with it, sorted most of the settings already. I love the moon roof, one of the best options, not so sure about the nav yet, need to use it a bit before I slate it. I think we should have gone for the wider screen with more functions but never mind, I am sure the one we have will be sufficient. I think this car is all about the engine though, I put my foot down a bit and was shocked how fast it is, shocked in a good way of course, epic springs to mind... Certainly an upgrade from our 1st gen X3 3.0 SE petrol, very happy with the purchase so far & looking forward to exploring what it has to offer...

Congrats on the new car! It was fun to hear your comments after only a few days. Don't over do it on the break-in though (the hardest part is waiting).

Had confirmation that my X3 is being built in week 5 (w/c 27th January) so should hopefully be with me for mid March. Ordered 1st October so looks like a 4 month lead in time to build

Thanks, funny but I asked the Dealer about break in and he said you don't need to worry about that! As I'm in London, there's not much chance of over doing it anyway, I average about 20 mph in traffic! Will stretch it's legs at the weekend!

Nice! I was amazed at the step up from the 1st gen, very impressed as I'm sure you will be too. Lovely to drive.

I would disregard what your dealer says. Probably most of what he says really. Break-in is discussed in a few posts referenced here. Probably worth using some caution early on - same for new tyres

I took it with a pinch of salt. New tyres and brakes not bedded in can be an issue! I'm being cautious and scrubbing in the tyres and being not too hard on the brakes for now. Nice & smoooooth...

Cheers.

Much harder for you to keep within the break-in limits with that twin turbo in-line 6 under the bonnet! Enjoy!

Thanks, yes, I have been tempted to knock the gearbox over to the sport function, firm up the suspension and give it a good thrashing but no time or right roads yet, hoping to get out of London at the weekend to give it a bit of stick!

I placed my order for an X3 at the start of November and won't see it until April! Does that sound about right?

At what point do I contact the dealer to ask about tracking the build and shipping?

I think this sounds too long, shouldn't be more than 4 months, think the Dealer is being overly cautious. My order was 3 months from ordering to delivery, Park Lane, London.
