Eesh, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm with you, here's to hoping the rest of us that appreciate Lotus can surely dilute the the one jerk.

He got called out for being long winded, so he packed his things and went home. It's a shame because he generally knew what he was talking about.

That's a real shame as he made a very positive contribution to making everyone here a little smarter about the car they drove. Hopefully he can read this and understand that this is a community that would welcome him back with open arms.

If the "community" said this, I would understand that he'd be pissed and leave.

But just because one person in a city pisses you off, doesn't mean you should move to a different town.

Lotus, come back. As an engineer, I know you'll appreciate this:

Now use your skills to put whoever pissed you off in a filter and forget about them.

Having read the offending post, I understand Lotus'reaction considering he put his heart and time in this forum. I would feel the same when it would happen to me.

I can only repeat what the others have said, showing appreciation for your past support and help, and hoping that you come back.

But if not, then that is to be accepted and not to be judged.

Hopefully the number of posts asking Lotus7 to return will have an effect. His posts were always informative. I always appreciated his opinion, and I hope he reconsiders.

Agree with everyone above and, in particular, it is for no one here to judge.

But come on Lotus this thread shows the true sentiment of us x3 fanatics. You have helped everyone on this forum and we want you to continue to share your knowledge.

[QUOTE=Steve30dMSport;11310253]
And a special point for Radioactive; whilst I, personally, found your psychological analysis of the OP quite fascinating, you failed to mention to the Board that you received an apology and an explanation that extraneous circumstances were at hand which created the tension leading to the "audiophile" post you so embellished. I'd hate to think you weren't giving the full story to the Board so they could make up their own mind.

You got me. In all fairness, you did apologize and were congenial about it. So, consisder this an apology.

Since BMW doesn't seem to think these website concerns of ours are significant enough ask one of their technical/engineering officials to participate here (or elsewhere, for that matter) we need more participants like Lotus 7 and fewer "bullshit artists."
Very well said. I hope he does return.

No doubt he had very sound knowledge of X3, but some times his remarks on others posts were really sarcastic and annoying. I faced that once and felt like retaliating but didn't and kept low by just saying "Thank you very much", all will not do the same. In short, Lotus7 should have patience and also tolerance to accept criticism of others too.

Every one has weaknesses and strengths and lets ignore weaknesses and appreciate strengths in this forum.

We did ask Lotus to stay while he was still around in the aftermath of the offending post. However, although I think he appreciated the support that he had been given and the esteem in which the forum held him, he was quite determined to leave and did so after saying goodbye.

However, they say time is great healer so you never know.

Does anyone know if Lotus7 uses the same ID elsewhere, maybe he will return to the best BMW forum. Perhaps he can be tracked down on other sites and 'approached'. But if this turns out to be an obituary thread then I too endorse my full appreciation of his input and highly respected posts, all were very well constructed and even spelt in the Queens english

I certainly appreciated Lotus7's information, there are so many things that are not going to go wrong with my vehicle now because of the advice here, especially from Lotus7.
Maybe Lotus7 will reincarnate with a new identity and we will know one of our best forum members is back with us then.

I'd leave him be for a time. I'm sure he knews of the support here, but that was not sufficient. Which tells me there's more to the story. Unless he chooses to discuss it further, we're not going to know more than we already know.

I too will miss Lotus7's contributions to the list, and i don't any of the specifics of what happened other than this thread.

one thing though about internet enthusiast forums such as this... people will come and people will go for a variety of reasons - anything from conflicting personalities to other priorities in life to moving on to whatever you get after your X3.

perhaps Lotus7 will come back in due time

This thread reminds me a motorcycle forum I frequent where a valued member was killed in a motorcycle accident (google CYBER POET DIED tonight 9/20/09 if you want to read about the guy).

Cyberpoet (like Lotus7) was a knowledgeable and well spoken individual who often helped forum members... even driving 100+ miles to assist a forum member or to lend a tool (and who lends tools now days). I don't think that particular motorcycle forum has ever recovered from the loss of CP.

I hope this forum doesn't suffer the same fate with the loss of Lotus7 and his intelligent and witty posts. Unlike the motorcycle forum I referred to Lotus7 can still return...

Hmm... I guess I missed the drama. I didn't realize that Lotus was not participating in the forum. I'm sorry to hear that some buttwipe seems to have caused his departure. I am a firm believer that only real names should be used in forums, not nicknames. People hide behind the annonymity of the Internet and are suddenly very brave and cruel to others.

I too hope that Lotus will return in his own time. I do understand how he feels (without having seen the cause).
