M Sport shadow line trim care

I am wondering how am i supposed to get the "oil look stains" off of the shadowline trim on the window surrounds. I have taken it to car washes and even tried to wipe it with water and window cleaner, however it still appears there is still a bit of oil like stains on it. Any ideas how to get these off, it drives me crazy. Thanks.

I've got the same issue, I'm going to try some chemical guys APC diluted 5:1 this weekend when I wash it and hopefully that has some effect.

Car washes... chemicals... Nooooooooooooooooooo

Wash the car well (by hand, the old fashioned way) after a good rinse, dry immediately with a soft clean microfiber towel.

If the stains are still there and look like an oily stain, then try rubbing a little Goo Gone over the area - lightly - with your finger. Then clean that off with a damp microfiber or "speed shine" type product. If it looks like a water stain or similar and won't come off that way, you may need to use clay. This is not for the faint of heart - so do your research on how to do it. It will be especially tricky on such a narrow area.

Once you get the stains/spots off - seal it or wax it. If you use Turtle Wax Ice, you don't have to worry about a little getting on the rubber seals - it won't show or create that dried on wax look.

Good luck!!

And if that does not work have your dealer clean or replace the stained trim.

Rub it really hard with a microfiber cloth and they will all come off. I use Mother Show'n'Shine and they are perfect.

...the dealer will not replace the trim because you can't clean it properly...

microfiber cloth is the best way to get those stain off. I have those shadowline trim on my other car. just wash it with soap and than dry the surface and wipe it with microfiber cloth.

There is a difference between a water spot and a stain. I inferred that the OP was dealing with some stains that didn't easily wash off.

It's not unusual to still find some cosmolene around the car... I've had to remove some from a few areas. Clay bar is the best method for that.

That's most likely from oily hands touching those areas opening/closing the doors.
I make it a habit to ONLY touch the door handles, and suggest you do the same; and then, you can make any passengers who fail to meet this request get out of the vehicle immediately and walk
