Looking to replace tires (different size)

Hello & welcome

I cannot find any information online regarding different size tires on stock wheels. My car came with 20"staggered wheels 20"x8.5 front & 20"x10 at the back with 245/40/20 & 275/35/20. I dont really like the stretched look of the rears and i find it difficult to not get the wheels scratched by curb especial when parking.

I was thinking to run 255/40/20 on fronts and 295/35/20 on rears on stock wheels. Did anyone run that size before, would i be able to fit them without rubbing or without harming my driveshaft over time.??

Thanks in advance.

You are in deep waters -it might work, but only borderline. Tire wear and driveline will take a hit.

What people are doing on their X3/X4 is to install spacers. For some reason they must be at least 10-12 mm. There are a lot of spacers that can be bought on the Net from Germany. Don't forget the screws/bolts.

Best tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sport- STD on M40i.

If you want better looks - install H&R.

So it will only work with spacers.. My tire shop will install a worn out tires just to see if there is any rubbing and how it will drive. Michelins are way overpriced in my place, best bet is to go with Hankooks.

Probably a bit late, but you can test different solutions for clearance here:

Hello.
I know this post is very old but wondering if you went with your proposed tire sizes, 255 & 295. If so, did you have any clearance or driveline issues?

I have same factory set up and also not crazy about the stretched look on the rears.
