Dont forget the following packages:

MLLP : Microwave Landing Lights Package
TOIB : Twin overhead inducted blenders

Essential kit in my view.

I just took delivery of a 35i M Sport with all the handling options. My reason for picking the X3 equipped this way was to compliment my 2010 Z4 35i with DCT and all the handling goodies. I wanted a vehicle that approached the performance & handling of the Z4 and would also be able to haul things like dogs etc. No other comparable SUV's even came close IMO.

Hey Horsedoc67. Welcome!

A growing crowd of us are pairing up a Z4 and an X3 - it seems a great garage mix.

(Only my X3 is the diesel as we cannot order the 35i in the X3 here. No biggy)

Oh!, the TOIB. That's the one that produces "road margaritas" via a hydration hoses with bite valve to driver and passenger, right? Not sure we can get that in the States . .

I took an M SPort 30d for a drive - I was impressed with its cornering ability under power.

The sales manager took it on a lap of an industrial estate and I followed in my Z4.

On a steep uphill corner, he was powering away (in a 190kW diesel) while I was sliding out the rear wheels on my 250kW (and 250kg lighter) Z4.

I dont doubt the value of PC in the powerful models inthe X3 range. Simply brilliant.
I even paid $5K more than I would normally have haggled because I think the car and handling is that good with the PC.

Performance control is great, I agree. That's why I ordered my X3 with the DHP and the SAP. A subjective discussion is that of the body kit offered with the M-sport vs. the standard paneling. I like the standard car because I feel more grown up. Others may disagree; whether they truly like the M-sport or they just like the idea of having spent more than those who ordered the SAP, that's not really up to me to evaluate anyways.

For myself, I much prefer the look of the MSport front and rear over the regular model. Plus, I find the black strips over the wheels on the regular look "strange. Besides, the MSport is worth it just to get the Sport seats. There is no need to put down ppl who get the MSport as being "snobby" by spending the extra $ to get it. If you prefer the regular look, fine....no need to pass judgement on those who go the MSport route. Just reverse snobbery IMO.

Hold on a second... Do the M-sport cars have a different lower door panel than the non M-Sports? If so, can you show me an image.
If not, please elaborate or, are you talking about the door sills?

Thanks.

First off, the SAP offers the same sport seats as on the M-sport.

Second of all, I was not judging ALL M-sport buyers. I was simply acknowledging the large group of premium car buyers who prefer to let others know how well capitalism has done them.

I spent a winter in St. Barth's and there were two extremely large yachts in the harbor, both the same model, one blue, one white. The blue one was relatively new, the white one was brand new. The one thing that set them apart was that the loading deck of the white one was a mere five feet longer than the blue one, just because the owner of the white one wanted to say he had a bigger yacht. The best part was that they were docked right next to one another. This is the kind of behavior to which I am referring.

And I'm sure none of you exhibit this behavior, but there are people like this in the world.

Thanks for the compliments, I strive for lazy and unobservant.

Really, just a little retarded, I thought the guy I was quoting was referring to the interior of the cars door panels. As far as I know the interior door panels are identical between M-Sports and non M-Sport cars.

I get he meant the exterior now that I've reread his post. His comment of rough plastic threw me as many have referred to the interior plastic of the door as "not so great".

My two cents are:
The black plastic exterior cladding slims the body of the x3 and offers functional protection of the painted body. I don't think it looks cheap or rough. To me the M Sport without a performance boost is a very expensive cosmetic upgrade. That said, if you like it go for it but to me the M-sport looks bloated.

torzeck: I see wehre you're coming from now

White was my first choice of colors when considering the X3. Since the unpainted plastic pieces at the bottom stands out the most with white, the M Sport package was a must.
