Another Sports mode question
I'm a pretty conservative driver so it took me a couple of months to really try out the Sports mode. Wow, what a difference. It really made my 28i feel like a sports car.
One question - if I have it in Sports mode on the freeway cruising along at a steady 70 mph, will it get worse mpg than the Comfort mode? Thanks, Cliff |

Yep unless you manually shift the transmission into 8th gear.
Otherwise you'll end up cruising down the road in 7th.

Definite reduction in fuel economy unless you can shift properly. I enjoy this feature on the open road and this uses less fuel as well.

If you want to maximize mileage when cruising then don't use sport mode, and engage cruise control. |

I too am conservative but also understand what these cars are capable of. I think the pleasure and excitement of seeing the tach whip back and forth during sport mode acceleration is well worth a few miles per gallon on occasion...

...or to maintain throttle response for passing you can drive in sport mode but leave the shifter in DS mode then manually shift into 8th gear.
