Oil filter wrench

What's the wrench size for 2014 X3 XDrive28i? I thought it was 16 flute 86mm, but one seller told me not match.

Yes it is, the oil filter caps are all the same across all modern BMW (except M). The filters are the same too (guaranteed on N52, N55, and N20, which is your engine)

I like this style to remove the plastic oil filter cap. I works on all the BMWs that I have owned.

Don't buy the style shown below that accept a 3/8" ratchet connection. They round out no matter what brand, cheap or Falcom.

That cast type is probably better; I got the other type- Chinese brand from Amazon, works but may not hold up to repeated use.

I rounded out a few different brands when the cap or filter (they make them for filters too) was too tight. What makes these so nice is you don't need room to swing the handle and they are way better than the days of jamming a screwdriver through a stuck filter to remove it.

I use this without issue (not perfect, and I use a shop towel to not mar the cap)

Burger Tuning has a very good oil cap removal tool which I used for years without issues:

The one pictured above by omasou with the ratchet fitting is stamped steel, those always round out, like he said. This is the one I use, it's cast with the ratchet fitting and is very solid. Made by MotivX Tools, part number MX2322. I bought the taller one but this shorter version of the same thing would probably actually work better:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-GENUINE...bHDf:rk:1:pf:1

LOL heck yes, I can't tell you how many times I've done this and apparently you have as well.
