Dash Cam on X3
I was just wondering if anyone installed a dash cam on their X3.
What make and model did you get? Where did you mount the camera? How did you wire the camera in? tx LBJGH

Mine's just stuck to the windshield with the supplied windshield mount and the wire just hangs over the rear view mirror. I move it between all 3 cars so didn't want to tuck the wires away.
My device is from www dod-tech dotca. Google it and you'll find the site as well as a few youtube reviews. I'm happy with it, mind you it's just a dash cam. Dave

I use the Mobius action cam which can be found on amazon. It's not wired yet, but I will likely power it via USB from the outlet next to the cupholders.

Another vote for Mobius. Mine is attached to the windshield by means of suction cup, and is powered from a portable battery attached to the sun visor.
Some dashcams have GPS (to display speed on video, among other things), small LCD screens, etc. Mobius has none of that, just the ability to record video in pretty good quality. They're available with either regular or wide-angle lens. I got mine from www.spytecinc.com. |

I googled the Mobius and it looks like the perfect size and I like the fact it runs of the usb.
It's great I can just plug it right into the USB in the glove compartment. The only problem is the usb cable. I don't know how to route/hide the cable from the top of the windshield and tie into the glove box...

I'm using Livue LB100. It's a bit entry level. I use heavy duty velcro to mount the cam to the windscreen, then fish the power cable through the visor mirror, then down the weatherstripping around the door, underneath the mats, then up to the armrest 12v plug

Not sure the model of mine. Professional installation was more important to me.
Mounted behind the rear view mirror so I don't see it. The wire is hidden behind the roof liner, down the door, and from there I'm not sure. No wires and no fuss. |
