New to the Forum -- 245/65/17?

Whats happenin!? New to the forums, Mercedes broke down and picked up a beautiful '04 X3 2.5i

Currently car sits on 235/55/17's and Im looking for a bit more of an all-terrain look. I did do some research; currently I have roughly 27" wheel diameter, if I were to go 245/65/17 Id be around 29" diameter.. so Id get about an inch of lift and hopefully tires would stick out a tad bit more.. Ive read and understand it might throw off my speedo or make it more accurate (lol) will this cause any issues with the xdrive?

Thanks a million! So far Ive had it for about 2 weeks, shes pushing 93K and DISA valve replacement is in the near future but Im loving the vehicle, our German Shepherd has his own spot in the back instead of bouncing all over the back seat on roadtrips.

Welcome!

Hmm, comparing the 2 sizes it looks like the new setup will throw off the speedo by 8.7%. The rule of thumb, generally, is to keep the variance under 3.0%. That said, I don't foresee it having any other issues than that. With the XDrive your main concern would be the rolling diameter front vs rear. OVERALL it'll be off on the speedo, but F to R ratio will be exactly the same.

That is great news! Thank you! I searched everywhere and did not find anyone with an x3 running that tire size which seems to be the closest to OEM that I can find an A/T tire in.

Please tell us how it went.. did it fit well? Does the tire rub to the fender?

You pinged a 5 year old post

Are you interested in putting wider tires? Let me know, I can throw some light on it.
