I'm trying to determine if a newly ordered m40i (without ventilated seats) will come with power side bolsters for the driver and passenger as my 2019 has.
I have the same question about lumbar adjustments for driver & passenger.

I know there were supply chain challenges during the pandemic and some of these items were temporarily removed, but I want to verify these are resolved before I place an order.

I've spent a lot of time searching this forum and can't find an answer t this, and the dealer has been useless.

I picked up my 2023 in September with non-ventilated Vernasca.

I have side bolsters and lumbar on my driver. I know for sure there is no lumbar on the passenger, and I think there might be side bolsters. I can check when I go home from work.

Not that it helps, but dealers were caught off guard when the first 2023s were arriving without lumbar.

Non ventilated does not comes with passenger lumbar, only driver side on 2023 MY.

It depends which seats you order. If you get the sensatec you should get lumbar driver only, no side bolster. The passenger will not have either. If you get leather it’s hit or miss, I’ve seen it with both on ivory Vernasca (driver only) but on Cognac Leather I saw it with only lumbar for driver and passenger was blank.

I also asked dealer about this and they said it all depends on what they have available when car is being built. In other words no guarantees if you get Vernasca seats. This is one of the reasons I won’t order still.

Damn - That sucks. I'm with you, I'm not willing to drop 70k on a maybe. I have 2 dealers checking on this, but nothing definitive yet. I use all these features on my 2019, they are great.

What makes it worse is that I test drive a 2019 X4 at the dealer and it had black sensatec seats (older version of sensatec but still very comfortable) and both driver and passenger had lumbar and side bolsters. I took a pic because I couldn’t believe it. It had the window sticker with all the options and it was sensatec. So BMW did at one point have both on sensatec but since removed the side bolstering button.

I had side bolster and lumbar on driver side only on my 2023 X4 M40i with black Vernasca leather. Passenger side got NOTHING. It had a stick of $75k too. Unreal.

Has anyone done a retrofit on the side bolster and lumbar for passenger side seat?

Iirc seat adjustment retrofits usually require whole seat change plus coding. I think it ends up being cheaper to just buy another car with the seat features you want. Unless you can source the seat for cheap somehow.

What I can’t figure out is why do some seats have the mold of the circle (lumbar) and rectangle (side bolster) and are still blank but cut outs are there. While others the cut outs are not even there like this photo above.

For those that have both on the driver's side, what code do you have in Bimmer.work?

I have 487 for lumbar support, but nothing for bolsters. I suppose that there must be a specified code for that, but my dealer is unaware of it.

My 2020 X3 x30i came with FULL controls for lumbar and bolster on the DRIVER'S and PASSENGER sides. I ordered mine with a Mocha Vernasca leather (Mineral White Metallic exterior)

That sucks that BMW has deleted, seemingly at random, some of the "little" creature comfort standard features. I'm glad I ordered and received mine a week before the pandemic hit 3 yrs ago.....oh, did I mention that I also got 18% off MSRP via the deal and all of the incentives at the time........ah, those were the "good o'l days".

The shortages made random option omissions. Like in KR, I heard their quickest available model is now without HUD and surround view.

487 is the code for Driver Lumbar Support
491 is the code for Driver Width Adjustment (bolsters)

Any time. I don't think they can be spefically order, I think it all depends on the seat supplier for BMW and if they are able to provide them.

The only codes I had other than the ones above were:

459 Power Front Seats
481 Sport Seats

I ordered Vernasica without the ventilation and was hoping I would get driver lumbar and width adjustment which I did get. If memory serves me right ordering ventilated seats would remove width adjustment and add passenger lumbar. I can't remember if this was a Vernesca only item or if it was the same for Sensatec. There were a lot of discussions last August and beyond when 23s were being delivered.

Just checked my 2021 M40i, it does have everything on the passenger side. Bit of a golden year for this vehicle IMO. That being said, we never use the lumbar.

Possibly, try to see if your CA can send you a vehicle inquiry report, I think that was on mine. Otherwise, if you can search "Chrome Trick" you can view a list of all your options using the developer version of Chrome, the codes will definitely be listed in that list if it's on the build.
